Does Ableton Live LITE support MIDI control?

I got a copy of Live Lite bundled with my M-Audio Axiom 25.

I've tried a few tutorials on getting the controller working with Live, but none seem to work. I heard somewhere that this was because the "Lite" version of Live doesn't support MIDI control....

So they bundled my MIDI CONTROLLER with a version of a software that DOESN'T support MIDI CONTROL?

So confused..... :?

Also, I'm not able to locate or import any .mp3 files into Live Lite.... All of my .wav files show up fine in the browser, but I can't find a single .mp3, all of my music folders appear to be empty....

I'm brand new to Live so if anyone could give me some tips or suggestions, that would be the dopeness.

Thanks in advance :t:

Not sure about midi but I think it would as I used my axiom 49 with ableton lite via usb. Also you should update to live lite 8 for free from their website and that will fix mp3 importing...

Reaper? Could you *cough* elaborate *cough* ? :)

K, well I'm going for the upgrade as soon as my bandwidth can afford another download, so hopefully that'll take care of the importation issue....

BUT.... I wonder if it'll fix the issues I'm having with MIDI control.....

Could you possibly walk me through getting my controller synced with Live?
Would be much appreciated :z:

im very familiar with Reaper and also a three year user of Live. i like reaper for what it is, but if you want to shell out $99USD for Ableton Live Intro, you won't be sorry.

both are VERY different programs. if you like the idea and feel of Live, just grab Intro.

Not sure if this applies to Live lite, but I know in live my Axiom has to be dumped to get all my controllers to work in Live. On Lives midi page, the first line where you pick your MIDI controller, pick Axiom USB2, I think, for all lines, then the oval at the end says dump, press that, and your Axiom will get a Live sys dump. Then you can change your presets to 18, 19, or 20 on the axiom and itll be mapped to different functions in Live. Check here: http://www.modulatethis.com/2007/05/how ... _the_.html for details.

Is Lite the same as LE? If so, Id def upgrade to Live Intro. Its free!

Lite lite is not same as LE, as LE is better and you cannot upgrade free with lite....which is why I forked out the money for the standard version finally, woot!

Setting up your controller should be a snap but hell I've had problems with various controllers and hosts for quite some time now. In fact I'm having a prob getting my android phone to send midi over ip with osculator or ipmidi for mac os at the moment and I honestly think its ableton this time!

Ok well for say an axiom or trigger finger, you should make sure you have most up to date drivers from m audio. Open live, preferences, and set up in #1 slot your midi controller, and depending on your controller it may be in the list, select it if it is, dont bother if it isnt, and then set it up as your input and output next to that.

Below that in midi ports, slect your device both for input and remote but not sync.

Then you should get input, and there will be a yellow rectangular led button in top right corner of ableton live that should light up if so....try remote mapping something then.

If you have m audio shit, axiom or trig finger, select preset 10, or 11, or 16(best) - preset 10,11 is for ableton and impulse, and I havent used them really. But preset 16 is a blank slate? So you should be good with that.

If not working, then keep playing with everything and work on it, you might get it.

Hope it works out ;)

i got my copy of live lite with an m-audio trigger finger. it works with live lite as a midi controller.

i bought it when live was at version 5. i now have live lite 8 as it does give you free updates when the new version comes out.

just so all of you dudes know, Live Lite and Live LE are no longer being made or shipped with new gear.

Ableton announced Live Intro to replace the latter 2 (LE and Lite), so now its:

Live Intro
Live
Live Suite
