Picking and Retaining a DJ/Production alias!? WTF

After switching production/dj alias's countless times and after countless frustration i am beginning to pull my hair out,
its like there are so many artists out there that every thing is taken, even really obscure shit that i start producing with i find out months later that there is some artist in the middle of nowhere with the same name that happened to release an album years back.
How do you guys double check your alias's besides google and soundcloud to see whats up? I'm worried about submitting my tracks and having someone else get the credit or recognition for them. This is driving me Crazzzzy

If you really care that much about being 100% unique, just type the name into discogs to see.

fuck that, what are the chances of someone actually filing a law suit against you, especially if they/he/she is producing a completely different style of music. Also alot of bands/persons have already stopped making music (check when the latest release was).

i wouldn't worry about it too much. There's like 7 producers called Ghost and I don't think they seem to have that much problem
personally i'd just go with unusual names that aren't puns or word plays... red i isn't a bad name, but you can see how somebody else is going to think about it

I like Martyn's idea. Real name, nothing to hide behind.

Haha im definitely going for the Red-I reference, but it seems like Red-I is a beatboxer who dabbles in dubstep. Do you think thats too close for comfort?
I dont know why im stressing it so bad i guess in the end it doesn't really matter that much.

Good idea, you guys can call me Adam now.
I dunno I don't give my full name out anywhere on the net unless I am giving credit details as well. Not hiding anything it's just this is the net and all. I just picked a boring name. Let my music do the talking I suppose. This was like 04 when I picked my name. I was able to get myspace.com/abz at the time I figured that was as good as a trademark. Signed up for all kinds of shit and was able to get just abZ so I figured it was all good. Same way I picked out the name of the label Savory Audio. Got
http://savoryaudio.com, Savory Audio gmail, etc, etc, the name is mine. Anyone else using that came after me and they will pay!

First one to make a name for themselves gets dibs. There's like 20 djs named Nero, first Nero to the big time got to keep it.

The only thing about red_i where you live is DJ Redeye has been a staple in DFW for almost 20 years. Two different scenes though but may be some confusion locally.

Yeah i actually considered that and talked to some friends from the area and they all thought the genre differences would make it legit. I'm still starting to feel like its not nearly as original as i want it to be ( or originally thought it was ). Even if my eyes are always red and people are constantly pointing it out.
hah.
Definitely gonna hit the drawing board once again
