I know you lurk here, now, I almost bought both of these until I caught this, and really yo... thats fucked up...
jump between the basses guys, same hook, different incidentals, bit more distortion... now... If I dug into my project folder, grabbed the hook out of one of my hits, and tried to pass it as a new tune, people would get annoyed, innit? N this aint like southpaw n shit where its a cutup track, those are fuckin awesome... this is straight up two tracks from one... IDK... I like the sounds n all, but hook rinsing like that kinda bugged me when its too that sort of angle....
Someone tell me thats all in my head... load both videos n just jump between em... I wanna believe the worlds a better place then this, shelter me, please.

So i guess your gona bash on stagga for usin that same metalic wobble in multiple tunes? and like a thousand other people that do the same thing?
edit: personally if i was to get datsik to answer a question it would be how to get the exact sound he got on the drop of open your eyes (texx mars)
The tunes don't sound that much alike. You are noticing their formula I think. You get a good formula and after that making music is like paint by numbers. I can't really bitch about that too much. For one it is working for them and for two I have my own formula, it just isn't popular like theirs is

Yeah exactly, he isn't the worst offenders. I swear I can't tell the difference between about 96 different Kromestar tunes.

Personally I think recycling is great, but can't help but feel a bit let down when I hear tracks from a producer that seem lazy, regardless of whether that's due to recycling or otherwise.
That said Datsik does have a lot of amazing tracks that are quite varied from each other as well, and I believe he addressed how similar some of his releases were for a time, but has since changed it up a bit, though many of the tunes aren't available yet.

No, I mean listen to the way the basslines of each tune are put into your head, not the way the final result sounds...
Thiers this one bar hook in each tune that makes n breaks em, then shittons of ncidental wobbles and slides n crazy shit in between each repetition of that, i.e. the hook... Thier the same notes, and the hook defines a song, we all know as producers in a song theres a bit the listner grabs onto that makes it that song, well, in those two, the hook is the exact same sound, one just got a bit more distortion...
Its the hook snatching with no change that tweaked me...
I already said Im cool with grabbin patches from your collection over n over and going to town with slice n shuffles n stuff, but, like, take Southpaw, and figure he used one bassline, cut it up with the razor, and rearraged it bit by bit too make a new hook, n built the tune up from there... thats all fine n dandy, caus ehte hook, i.e. the couple notes that define the tune, is anew... Same thing with usin the same patches with different notes and using them too serve different purposes...
But listen closely on those too, n youll see that the hook appears to be EXACTLY the same... and in my mind, that really creates a blur between the two... and I feel like it kinda takes recycling too far...
And word, the man is an AWESOME producer, its just with those two, like he jsut said, I feel like he was lazy, and kinda reengineered a bit and made double statistics...

In my opinion, I think the two examples you gave are pretty unique from each other tbh. Everyone will have their own opinions though.
Why not buy some of his other amazing stuff if you're iffy about that release.

I agree, it's not so bad that I would shun someone, I'd just play the one I like better, Gizmo, and buy his other sick releases.
I love playing Gizmo, don't care much for Retreat.
Datsik is dope either way

honestly, all of my songs are pretty much the same... i recycle bass lines and wobbles accidentally all the time, they just sound good so why not use 'em... i couldn't really complain about somebody else doing the same

datsik wrote about this in a similar thread. he basically sent a bunch of tunes from same style period and even variations on alot his tunes for a period
diff labels picked em up and he blew up and then alot put out some of em later on. his newer material is def diff

They do sound quite similar (but I can't really tell that they are the same notes or not - and I guess that's the point: they sound different enough so who cares?). They are part of the uber wobble madness innit? Probably a lot of unknown people do it too (use a similar template from one song to the next), exept since they aren't heard as much people don't notice...
Personally most of my tracks are very different, it's not that I try to do that it's just the way it happens. But he has happened upon a quality sound there, or a really good system through which he can make those amazing sounds, and people love it. Some of his tracks make me laugh - they are so ridiculous (in a good way)
Basically it doesn't really bother me. I guess I could have just said that.

seems like all of those dudes just pull crazy sounds out of their ass and call it a song.
sure maybe if im really drunk or high on x these songs would probably get me kinda stoked and sound epic and make my head nod. but its like, COOOL you can make weird noises on your synthesizer and do good mix downs, you still cant come up with a fresh idea...
i dunno i can get into a few bangers im not gonna deny that but its not because they sound heavy as fuck or are really epic its because the song is well written and has a soul, i just cant stand almost all of it. I once sat through a dj who played a bunch of bangers for about an hour, i almost wanted to cry hah that shit bored the fuuuuuck out of me.
sorry for the rant, i know im hating on music that most people on this forum enjoy and produce so i should really just keep this shit to myself.. buuuut i dunno, im gonna go ahead and post this anyways.. i just cant get with 98% of dubstep, that 2% is really fucking awesome though, and thats why i still take time out of my day to find the gems of the genre, because there is really nothing else like a good solid dubstep song.

point taken.. another thread like this came up already... im suprised you would link those 2 tracks together out of any of mine... basically i have a whole new batch of tunes that should be comin out using different syles & tempos and such, but honestly all i can say is im tryin my best.. i didn't expect to make it this far, and im happy i have... but basically im just making music that I like, now that i know it matters so much to everyone else, to the point wher they will start a thread about it... i guess ill try and switch it up.. cool? (for the record i already have switched it up, its just everyone else wont really see it until the release shedule is layed out lol) but whatever, respect for speakin ur mind!

Ya, I gotta side w/ Datsik on this one. You find something that works and promo the hell outta it. Then when you bust out, well, it sounds the same for a while... C'est la vie.

Hey man, I iwsh you the best bro, meant no hate in the thread, n I aint shunnin ya, dont owrry, still got wheels over here, Im just stuck on those hook chords, but, I guess like deadly said it was a time period move with variations, its a catchy style... Dont rinse anything though man, end up stuck in a rut... no more chord progression rinsing at least, same patch, have at it, same patch same chords... ehhh... yeah, was over on your myspace after southpaw was stuck in my head, big up the new stuff dude.
Respect for puttin out some sick tunes, and being chill enough too answer gripes.
I still think you rinsed n repeated it though ... music int shampoo bud.
EDIT:::
Trolls who showed up between me and datsik in responses!!! Read!
Im not picking on him. I caught the same chord progression bieng played on the same patch, and it wierded me out a bit cause I was listening to them as previews while shoppin. And if you read my posts, this isnt about a formula or using the same patch or whatever your on about... its about using the same hook bit through the same patch for two tunes, which int hard too miss there, and its completely understandable that if you send out multiple version of a tune too different labels, n your tryin to get your name up, too sign all the contracts that come your way.
