I quite fancy buying a proper synthesiser but ive only got room in my setup for one keyboard, so if the new synth has a midi connection at the back... is there some way i can get that to plug into usb and allow me to use it as i would a midi keyboard?
If so, what extra stuff will i need?

Should be fine, anything that sends 0's, 1's and 1-127's should be able to be used as a controller.

Nice one, cheers for the quick reply.
Do you know what extra hardware is needed?

Other than a midi cable which will probably be provided and obviously something for that cable to go in, mixer, patchbay, pro soundcard etc etc

if it has midi out or even usb, it can be used as a midi controler.
if it has midi out, you will need some (any) sort of midi interface for your computer, be it a soundcard with a midi port, standalone midi interface, midi to usb cable, or something else.
if it has usb, all you need is a usb port on your pc. :]
if the latter sounds cool, check out novation x-station.
