Equipment Needed to Get Started?

So I have decided to buy some equipment to start making my own music, but honestly have no clue where to begin even after hours of research. What is the main equipment needed to get started? Mixer, Sequencer, turntables, computer etc. If some of you could help me out it would be greatly appreciated, I don't know anyone into this music.

well you just said you wanted to make your own music and towards the end you tossed in turntables...so do you wanna produce/make music or dj/mix it? first of all i would start by searching around and basically thats it everything you need is out there...search this forum thoroughly.

I already think this is a joke.

But, all you need to get started is Reaper, and if you wanna DJ you probably already have windows media player, open two copies of it, position them side by side, push play buttons. Shit even has pitch and effects.

It's got dirty wobs.

Look, if you really want more information send me a message on AIM (my SN is over there --> )
because it's just annoying talking through a message board back and forth and you're going to have questions.

Well all you need to start is a DAW, personally I would recommend Fruity Loops if you've no experience as its pretty easy to pick up and there are shitloads of FL tutorials on youtube, and some fairly decent headphones or speakers- they don't have to be massively expensive just usable. Once you've got them your off, I would start by reading the production bible and watching any FL related youtube vids. Good luck and godspeed

Ableton's probably your best bet then. As far as i've heard it's pretty easy to get into. If you don't trust that check out the demo's of Ableton, Cubase, Reason and Renoise and decide which one suits you best. When it comes to DAW's its pretty much just personal preference. I wouldn't invest in anything but a DAW for now as it would just be a supreme waste of money to buy stuff you may never use

This has too be the most ignorant statement Ive ever heard...

Do we reallyneed too list the countless professional using FL again, or break it down feature by feature next too Cubase for you?

It doesnt matter what daw you use, and FL is one of the most powerful there is. DAWs will not dictate your sound, that is entirely up too you.

Thank you. If I got money to spend though, what would be a good investment?? Something that I am going to use, need, and learn from??? Thanks for the info on FL, its in consideration.
