Anyone else watch it on Sunday? Was pretty good, I quite like Brian Cox...... any of you lot read his book?

Watched it last night on the iPlayer... I love Brian Cox, he always explains things how I think about them.

There was a bit of going over old ground, I thought, but some of the demonstrations were fantastic. Especially the views of the sun from the planets... Mercury is officially terrifying.

Can't wait for the rest of the series... well up for episode 2 on my Bloc comedown!

Watched it from a boat in Torbay. Shit ruled... one of the weirdest experiences.

The solar wind/aurora borealis stuff was great on this programme.. lovely demonstratons and the pictures of them on other planets were great.

The footage of sunrise on Mars. YES.

I liked it. I don't like how they make it all dramatic with emotive music etc but it was good. Brian Cox is alright.

Thanks for the heads up on this series, I've been in TV limbo. Still haven't got reception for my tv after moving.

I didn't really like the program that much. Although the Eclipse and Aurora Borealis did look spectacular.

Th Eclipse happened when I was 6. I remember going to the local hill and wearing these little glasses. It was the coolest thing ever to a 6 year old!

It was awesome... especially the first and last episodes!

It's not a Caltech course, it's a modern popular science program so, yes, old ground will be retrodden. Who are you, Ed Witten?
I have loads of physics books of different levels of complexity/technicality, I still learn stuff from even the most simple laymans texts.

He used to play keyboard in D:ream while he was at Uni (around the time their tune was used for the Labour campaign in '97.
Gave up international pop stardom to become a physicist. Winner.

I kind of see these documentaries a bit like getting a great mixtape of all my favourite songs... obviously, you know them already, but it's cool when someone comes and presents it in a nice way for you. I like Brian Cox too, I have to admit... he reminds me a lot of me.. excited *all* the time, I love enthusiastic people.

I'd not seen the footage of Aurora Borealis on other planets seem from our probes and I hadn't seen the footage of sunrise on Mars... yeah, it's easy enough to find that stuff on the Internet (maybe you lot get to see it in school now, but we definitely didn't 10 years ago!), it's awesome that the BBC take the time to put it all together into an hour, IMHO. The sunrise from Mars made me genuinely emotional... I'm a sucker for that stuff.

Will be interesting to see what the rest of the series focuses on... obviously, we already know quite a lot about the Sun (because we all see it every day!), but there might be a bit more new stuff to present for the rest of the Solar System.

Not that D:ream lasted that long...

I think we actually still don't know a lot about the Sun (and therefore stars). We've barely scratched the surface.
