Stupid question I know but does anyone ever use there kicks as sub bass in dubstep like in house or electro-house. I swear sometimes when hear real hard dirty crazy dubstep the kick is the bass instead of just a sine.

a kick layered delicately with a sine, yeah. good technique if done well (and used sparingly).

You can use a tool called Corpus in Ableton which allows you make nice subby kicks. Sounds good if done properly...otherwise, layering.

Find a nice sustained 808 sample and put it in a sampler. Work out what note the sample is and set it so C is C on the keyboard etc, then play it like any other bassline.

hell yes your kik can be your sub if you want it to be. i like to take my main sub line and chop it out where the kik hits and put a low deep sine or 808 under it. BOOOOOM

Yeah I'm working on some Harde Dubstep style stuff and really want to make some grinding mids and fast beats that hit hard kinda broken note/16 bit style stuff. So I have a kick for my low end. Sounded good but Just wanted to get some input.

I dont understand, do you just let your drum rhythm with the 808 kick make the bass line or do you throw kick in a sampler, create bass line from this and then add the rest of your percussion to match?

Is it side chain? I'm thinkin Hard kicks with grimey distorted reece sounds for the mids kinda just all over the place like broken Note!

Does O.P. want granular repetition of a slice from the 808 kick, you know, ole grime sub tech n shit?
Or maybe he wants Knockout by monsta... I really think thats it...
