Question about samples...

the problem is, i cant sample clips the way i used to. my old method was; download a video, save as mp4, extract audio with sound editor, and then sample it. (i know it sounds lazy or non professional) But now sites have disabled saving videos to mp4.
how can i sample clips from movies and other media? any suggestions?

Record it directly via your soundcard!
There's probably a button in your control panel for that if you're using an onboard card.

man just be careful sampling those mp4s cause they tend to have bitrates of ~128kbps
i dont know about you guys but cutting a youtube clip into a decent mix is like shitting in a sundae to me

extremely lame question... go record your toilet flushing... record every musical sound you can make from of your mouth, flick your cheek at different stages of opennesss....... daaaammmn.. sorry if im not helpful but really. fucking sample yourself taking a shit dude, make a song out of a poop sample, get my point, sampling is all about whatever ya know, take a day and record everything around you if your have a portable device to do so.
im currently planning a song that will be made out of only sounds of my skateboard, popping, grinding, etc, all out of sample i myself recorded, plus black moon saying "get on my skateboard and do a mothafuckin drive by" in that one song i think its called something powa..
i made a song the other day that way made out of mostly samples from a guy making a tutorial about adobe premiere pro and he was talking too close to the mic and making really funny noises, i was stoned and thought it was hilarious. i believe its the unfinished tune on my sig, all the drums were made from that youtube tutorial plus almost all the other sounds in the song.
im drunk...

Audacity - record via the stereo mix input and it'll grab anything that's playing at the time.

well i dont think any question is lame. i didnt know something so i asked. ya know?
and i have tried recording random sounds. but they were off key and not clear, they sounded like static.
but that is because i dont have a good mic. but i honestly think taking a shit might produce some good dub
some sick SHIT

agreed, but i used mp4s for movie quotes or speech. never anything instrumental.
but all in all they sound pretty good through my speakers

im not really sure i understand the question, but i use my shitty internal mic, even when its things like youtube videos or something, i think it adds a kinda shitty sound that i like, usually have to cut out the high end of most samples though. If i understand your question i just hit record on audacity, then it picks up whatever is around my computer.. im probably totally missing what the actually question was i just feel like typing... hah

haha i wasnt trying to be a dick i was just drunk and I get dumb founded when people ask things like that. like my buddy asked me hes like "soo how do you find your samples? what do you use and where do you find them, whats a good sample? how should i find samples"
its just really weird to me that people dont understand that you could record your cat saying meow and make a 50 minute song out of it, and it might actually turn out decent.
