Too much Dubstep?

Since I've been at uni my love for dubstep has grown insanely after discovering it over a year ago. It's got to the point now where i only literally go out for dubstep nights or any venue that plays dubstep or anything with a bass and beat to it. I use to go out to any old club and just get pissed and have a good time but now whenever I go out with my mates and that I find it really shit, mainly because the music isn't to my taste and on most occasions leave early or sometimes not even bother going out when asked.

Just wondered if anyone else has shared similar experiences to me? I know it sounds fucking crazy but my social side of things have dipped because of this.

I'm the same mate.

Although, being 24, and having been going out most weekends since I turned 18, "normally" clubbing was getting seriously stale anyway.

I'd say this is most definately a good thing.

I'm exactly the same. Went to Brighton the other week and ended up in Tru......rather than Digital or Honey Club. I got excited when 'In For The Kill' came on and was also hoping it was the Rusko version when Jason D'rello (or whatever the hell his name is) was played......it wasnt.

I dont mind going out on a 'normal' locally with my mates to a random main-stream club for a nice cheap night out. But wouldnt want to travel all over the country just to end up in a Yates!!

I still feel it helps to be able to go to shit venues with shit music and enjoy yourself. That's where your social side comes into play a lot more. However yeah gotta agree it is tough to really enjoy yourself when the music is total cheeseball garbage lol.

thats y lineups play a MASSIVE part in it all for me...

if u dont wana hear shit music or music u may not like, find the dj's that play the styles and sounds u love and go see them, although this may limit some people depending on how wide your range of taste is within the music BUT...for me anyway, it means im VERY rarely ever dissapointed, because i just wouldnt go to a lineup that isn't my kinda thing.

Yeh i find this happens to me.

I'd had a period of just going to some dnb and some dub nights and then i went out on a random to chicago rock cafe with my mates. It was wank i ended up going home blazing a zoot and listening to rinse, which i enjoyed more than being out.
The thought of a bunch of fat men pushing 40 in age an weight eyeing up underage girls who've been let in to the place because they are wearing fuck all, and going off to some mainstream shite, thinking that they're "avin it" really doesn't appeal to me. Thats what i find with mainsteam "clubs" around my ends anyways. :u:

Yoo man! i got the same issues man, none/most of my mates do not listen to dubstep, hard side or the sub side. They laff at it most of the times, they are always on about rnb n hip hop and that, while am trying to talk about a new e.p or something. Crazy shit ! When i try tell them to understand the diversity of the gene they laff even more, so i just say fuck off ! you listen to your waffles made for dumb dumb on tv, while i listen to something more interesting and creative. :i:

I could say nearly the same of me.

Since im 16 im every weekend out, i used to go to popular clubs, which are all playing minimal, techno, techhouse or just Bullshit sound, because of my friends. than i began to search the clubs which use to doo nights wiht some good music, i began to go to DNB and UKG partys since Dubstep grew up, i decided to go only on partys which have the styles i like. so it comes that i wasn't about 3 or 4 years at a club in which i used to go back before.

I'ts all good as long you have your fun. Still at home i'm listening Hiphop shits n stuff, cause when you listen only the same style, your music sense and might your music you doo your self becomes In'cest

I have the same problem with masturbation to be honest, none of my friends seem to be into it as much as I am, when I'm doing anything else all I can think about is the next tug, it's ruining my social life but I love it so much.

im sort of like this.....

i first got exposed to dubstep last march....first heard some chase and status then progressed to mala coki kode 9 jakes skream etc....

first heard dubstep live at the electric daisy carnival of 2009....subfocus dropped some rusko hype detuned.....

then as i was leaving EDC....i got a flyer for NOCTURNAL FESTIVAL......SKREAM headlining....

then the rest was history

started hitting up purefilth..........

to date ive seen

MAH, Plastician, Distance, Mrk-1, Joker, Skream, Benga, Rusko, Mala, 12th planet, Emalkay, 16bit, Starkey, Jakes

and coming up this weekend im going to see CASPA, AC Slater, and 12th planet for the hundredth time lol.....the next month im going to see COOKE MONSTA....

basically im trying to go to as many diverse shows as possible.....i want to see everyone i can....until i see who i want to see....i will prefer going to dubstep exclusive nights....

im still a big techno house and dnb fan though.....still RAVE it proper with my friends as much as possible.....MASSIVES I PREFER

Another thing I've just thought of is money....When I go out "clubbing" I spend £50-100 on drinks and entry to places etc...and then wake up the next day regretting it.

When I go to a good dubstep night, I shall wake up, maybe having spent a max of £50 (depending on where it is) without a hangover as I tend to find I don't need to drink.

It's definately a good thing all this.
