I've been trying to make my own using 2 detuned saws and down pitch And various FX. But try as I may they just sound really muddy. Any advice on how to clean them up would be a great help.

hoovers are square waves for starters and they use pwm for the modulation

remove mud with a notch filter in your synth around the 500hz area
sounds nice with two in series the other higher up
also add some slow lfo mod to filter cut with smallish range for some subtle movement, works nice with different speed pwm

easiest way ever to make a low terrorist style reese bass:

get yourself ni pro53
click on load and choose an empty patch.
click on the saw button on the 2nd oscillator.
click on the key tracking button on the 2nd oscillator.
play a low note and piss about with the cutoff and resonance.

done.

yeah.. wobble's gonna sound really dated... already kinda does... but by then i'll have moved on to the next sound that will be dated in 10 years

The Genesis VST has a badass hoover preset called (unsurprisingly) 'Dominator'. I think it was a free vst that came with CM magazine but i could be mistaken. I found it on KVR pretty easily. Its a cop out using a preset but if you tweak it to your taste theres quite a few rave-tastic sounds to be had. Gota love the 90's Brutal Electro...
EDIT: I know this threads more about reese bass but give the genesis a go if you fancy some hooveridge aswell 8)

in the right tune they sound sick ;)

but has been over done a lot imo

im enjoying side chaining n routing atm :D

@who ever posted this

try 2 saw waves
detune them slightly
route through 1 lpf
then set lfo > pw and you'll get something like a hoover (lfo rate @ 1/4 or 1/8)

I love the Hoover sound. Its good 'cause it can be moody and obviously leaves a lot of space on top which wobble doesn't generally.
