Dark pads (VIVEK, SP, Icicle, ...)

Aha!
I'm wondering how to make darker patches for backgrounds and single hits like the ones you hear on the productions from the likes of V.I.V.E.K., SP:MC, Joker D, Verse, icicle, go on, big list.
Not here to copy them just to learn yeh

Icicle - Minimal Funk (dubstep version, although you hear this darker patches in his dnb productions too)
