Crummy Gear Thread

So I've made this thread before, and thought I'd do so once again as I'm always curious whos pushing mental sounds out of ghetto rigged, crummy, or straight up broken gear.

Here's a photo of my busted laptop that's just taken the piss. This pic was taken a while back and doesn't show the hilarity of the laptop now in it's current incarnation. Now, there's no busted lcd, just the keyboard, with wires hanging out the back. The keyboard is propped up on a small miniature fan, as the cooling fan inside the laptop broke and threatens to turn to melt. The ext. monitor input jack is loose and wobbly, the headphone input is now broken. Now the thing doesn't even turn on

For me it's:

Comp - Dimension 3100 I got in October 2006
Headphones - Philips SHP8500 snatched from the radio station I spin at.
Speakers - Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker System

My mouse is so fucked, it goes into this weird double click mode which treats a single click as a double click. It works again by giving it a good couple of smashes....but you can imagine how annoying that is while writing a tune.

:h:

all in all it does what it needs to do...so I haven't been bothered to buy new shit. Other than the mouse business, the droning noise is the most annoying aspect.

Going to change all this by the end of 2010 though.

In some Wu-Tang article (I think) either RZA or one of those other in-house producers mentioned straight up robbing their equipment in the early years.

jokes.

i built a desk into my closet. i have four speakers hooked up to my computer, nicked from two different boomboxes. the foam surround on the two bigger ones has suffered some pretty serious ferret damage, one of them doesnt really push any air at all but when i put my foot on it i can feel the vibrations. and i like it. Image
oh p.s. that keyboard is not a midi controller its a small chord organ i bought at a thrift store with the intent of sampling but have not done yet.

Interesting....... It appears to have some kind of metal straw attachment.
