some loud ignorant dickhead comes up to you during a vinyl dubstep set and asks if you can play mt eden (they pronounce it emtee eeden i might add ..numerous occasions people have said this)...you then say its a vinyl set and he hasnt got anything even released let alone pressed on vinyl and then they say can you plug their phone in to play the track?

really what can you say that isnt offensive?

this is the kind of thing i am experiencing....

this is what the dubstep brand means now days i guess....awful music and a license to get the dj to play it if he doesnt play said awful music..

i should add i was playing mensah at the time

clearly mt eden pisses on mensah...he probably likes better d&b than mensah as well given that he said he likes roni size cos he mcs over his own tracks

i think its time to make a new genre....

if anything..for me its worse for the good being yolked with the awful...id rather it was all shit and nothing decent blended amongst it as it makes the proper music look bad just being next to it

On topic. In the middle of set the other week, while warming up for Slugabed, I had a woman come up and ask me to play something modern. The track at the time hadn't been released yet ffs.
70% of punters are deaf. There for the drinks or the drugs. Worse still, there's probably a few that are there to just to be able to say they went see DJ x or y and give even less of a fuck what's going on.

you never have to play what people ask for but the best way to shut them up is to play something amazing that makes them forget they had a bullshit request in the first place. if they are unfazed by amazing then burn their house down i guess.

same fucking thing happened to me! i dont remember what track i was playing, but a friend (whos not exactly into dubstep) came up with his iphone and asked if i could play that damn Mt Eden track. i dont remember the name, its that "one".
