i keep going back and forth with whether i should cough up the extra 1k for this Rane 68 as opposed to the djm 800. it seems like it should work pretty seamlessly with serato, and the possibility of 4 decks is awesome... but ive heard good things about both. i want to hear pros and cons from the pros and ams here. im in a dillemma!

Do what you want to do man, if you want to go digital, then do it, if you dont... then dont, easy. Id go the Rane, cause Rane is always quality, Ive never been a fan of pioneer, Im not saying its bad quality, just all their gear is way over priced.

Some bullet points for you
* Rane is far better than pioneer
* The Sixty-Eight is only worth spending that amount of money if you're going to use serato.
* Do you really need a mixer of this calibre at all
If it was me I'd be looking at a rane and a&h because I detest pioneer mixers.

for circuitry (and thus sound), you can't beat a&h as far as market-available mixers go.
rane is a close second.
pioneer is a distant 3rd, but the djm800 has so many good-sounding ways to manipulate your audio that, as long as you keep your gain structure good, it'll sound fine.
we always spec a xone:92 just because it can take whatever might come out of 2 or 3 ableton rigs and keep rocking, even if we all accidentally hit an 808 patch at the same time and shoot an extra, say,16db thru the system. the djm can't handle that.

I know this isn't one of your choices, but I would seriously consider looking into one of the A&H mixers because the sound quality is just butter. There may come a time in your life (you know, family and what not) when you are not so much into mixing and just want to listen to music. If that day comes you will not regret having a solid mixer that sounds just absolutely fantastic. I have never regretted my A&H purchase. Never.

the 68 will give you a 4 channel serato setup in box and it already has buttons on it for integration with ableton bridge
that's why it's so much
the thing looks like a toy compared to the ttm57sl imo but haven't had a hands on with the 68

I was going to reccomend a Xone42
with the $1,000 you save you can buy serato and enough tunes to rock for a month straight

Rane's faders are the most durable on the planet, which makes them far superior to allen and heath imo. I'll suffer an inaudible amount of sound quality for a fader that will virtually never wear out. Rane>Lifeitself.
But then again, I'm a scrach o holic, so that's my opinion.
