I produce with an MPC, Kaosilatior, and a turntable for scratching.
What i want to do is add an effect pedal to use with the scratches, I saw tom morello use an effect pedal with just the guitar cable and his palm, manipulating the tone. and I've wanted to do this ever since.

The easiest way to do this is if you have Aux Sends (ins/outs) on your mixer.

I'm sure there's another way but most pedals use line or mic in (not phono), so it makes a little more difficult.

I assume you are referring to one of the versions of the "Bullet in Your Head" solos. He takes the instrument cable out and then touches his pickups with it. He gets the funky tone changes with his Wah-Wah pedal. His most famous sounds though come from the Digitech Whammy pedal - a sweet little pitch shifter/harmonizer.

I've plugged my guitar pedals into my crummy keyboard at home, but never tried anything more advanced than that. As long as everything connects together I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Tom Morello has a guitar with a flaw in it, thats why it sounds like nothing else. And 773 is right about the sound you are probably thinking about. But Mix Master Mike hooked a wah-wah pedal up to his rig as heard in Hello Nasty. It would be super easy to do, just hook it from the mixer to effect to amp as a line effect, or if your mixer has a send effect I/O use that for better control. The only other thing you probably will need is 2 RCA to guitar plug adapters (are they called 1/4" or something?).

Ableton or vst equiv of said digitech whammy pedal, anyone?
