If I were you, I'd go to getdarker.com and download some sets.
As for artists, I particularly like

Starkey
Joker
Skream (Watch the Ride never gets old for me)
Mala
And if you're into Wu-tang, I'd take a look at the Wu Tang meets the indie culture: vol. 2 dubstep album, but I'm gonna warn you right now: all the lyrics are reused and the dubstep produced for it isn't very good either. That's just my opinion though, you might as well check it out, see if you like it.

To the original poster - If your completely new to the sound as it appears you are from your post. Then i suggest you get hold of some compilations, in particular the dubstep allstars series. There is a lot of variety covered in all of them and do paint a good image of the scene. This would probably be one of the best ways of discovering which strands of the sound in particular you are feeling the most. :)

imo datsik does not deserve to be in this sarcastic list. open your eyes, against the machines, gecko, gizmo are just a few that are some serious chooons. i wil admit some of his newer tunes like swagger are wack but honestly his earlier sound he got his first recognition from was pretty damn sick!!! wish he put out more tunes with that style

This man takes the cake. Dubstep needs 50.000 watts.
