Stuff + wobble = dubstep?

This makes me sad.

I'll be honest, the first time I listened to this, I couldn't get myself to listen to it the whole way through... And after a second listen, I still wasn't able to listen to the song the whole way through. Don't mean to sound harsh, by any means, but rather I am trying to offer some constructive criticism... I think the reason I was not able to listen to the song the whole way through is because it is seriously lacking any sort of melody. The bassline, while somewhat dirty, does not seem to couple with the rest of the instrumentals/vocals. They seem out of place and that they don't belong together, if that makes sense. I think, if you are still making changes to this song, you might want to try re-working the bassline and try basing it off of the original track's bassline. The way it's put together right now, it's got a decent structure, but overall, it just sounds like random notes and wobbles and you lose interest fast. Good idea though -- nobody is gonna hate on a snoop dubstep remix if it's executed properly. PEACE!

Yo I do agree with ^^ in many aspects. But I think there is more structure to your bass then you're getting credit for. Subbass it a little though, its not all about the filthy wobble. Bring back the rhythm from 48 sec. too. That shit was nasty. Other than that I lost interest too.

Stuff + Bass + Creativity + Ingenuity = Dubstep ... sometimes

There was no bass line to the original song. I was trying to keep it as minimalist as possible, seeing as the original song was a minimalist track itself.

This has a lot of sub bass, or at least I thought so. If you're listening to the YouTube version that's probably why you're not getting the full experience. Check it out on bandcamp if you already haven't.

since nobody else wants to exactly point it out...

this is just a friendly notice, the track posted for this thread is not dubstep.

it's not the worst production by any means, so keep it up.

haha, oh yeah, tru that... my bad... and yeah, basha's right... the tune is just not dubstep... the beats are comparable to many newer hip hop tunes, and not dubstep (new or old)... now that i think about it, it this might be a good way to turn on stubborn people who dont want to give dubstep a chance... lure em in with a few common sounds found in newer dubstep and slowly train them to enjoy it more and more

I was listening to the youtube version... might be the reason, but I was listening on some pretty high end reference monitors.

-If this isn't intended to be dubstep why is it called "Dubstep Remix" and posted in the Dubs section of dubstepforum.com?

i dunno why we are all chatting about this thing, this guy jsut made a tune posted it, bv hes proud of it, any negative critisism isnt gunna settle well with him/her even if he/she wont show it!

but i'll be honest, this isnt a dubstep, its a crunked up Vip of the original i would say.
but fair lay to the bassline modulation.

Actually that's kind of my goal. Dubstep needs to be a lot more popular than it is currently. However, I really would hate to see it go mainstream. If dubstep went mainstream it'd be ruined by money hungry companies and what not.

If you notice, on my youtube channel I have a good 5400 subscribers from montages I made awhile back, so I thought "hey, I should introduce these guys to dubstep," and seeing as I know my way around FL Studio a bit I thought I might as well produce my own rather than just throwing up a ton of tunes made by other people :P

But yea I guess this isn't really dubstep... Oh well, I'll try better next time.

Just to lessen the amount of comments stating it's not really all that dubstep, I changed the title to "dubstep-ish remix" lol xD

haha, yeah, no worries bro... i appreciate you sharing your work with us! It's what keeps forums like this valuable! Haha, and keep in mind that you should put little weight on my opinions since I, personally, primarily stick to DJ-ing and rarely produce (my production knowledge is far less than my DJ-ing knowledge)! Again, was just offering my opinions of the track -- not my cup of tea. Regardless, I do really think it's refreshing to know that you've got the right mindset about not bringing dubstep into the mainstream while still keeping plenty of the right ears in the know ;-) Biggup!

Haha thanks. I wish I knew how to DJ, I wouldn't even know where to start xD
