Hello guys...
I have been up there in London for 3 days, and I was very excited to go to the FWD (Plastic People). I went there, and I really loved the set of almost all djs... I didnt like the last one, with a set more instrumental, more "dub roots" also and it was not so much "heavy". Well, Id love if any of you guys help me to find out what kinda of dubstep I did listen last friday on FWD (Benny Il/ El B/ N Type/ Crazy D), cos I was downloading some dubstep tracks on internet and i couldnt find the same kind of dubstep. Im new on that, any suggestions are really welcome!

yeah on friday they were playing a mix of peking duckstep, then they moved into the deep dirty south style chickenstep with crunk influence.

Word, i hate it in music in general

to me there seems to be 3 "styles tho"

Kode9 type with more chilled stuff less garagy (or somthing).

like average dubstep, heavy bass simple drums

Dope shit like Left Leg out, or millitry (by Benga)

but even when i wake up and read this, i will argu with myself. my advise woudl be just listen to it and find out what artists are making the style you like.

DMZ seems to be a dope lable personally, and them southside Dubstar 12"s i really love aswell.

Thay were simply playing Drum and Bass at 33 rpm and -4 on the pitch adjust!!!!!!

judging by the fact El-B and Benny Ill were playing id guess you were feeling the older, more uptempo garagy flavours

Thank you Thomas... And guys, I know that is annoying to categorize music like that, but in my case, I just need to know how to look for the things that I liked over there, on this friday. There are differente kinds of dubstep, for sure. Im really new on this thing, I dont live in the UK, and all the dubstep thing is very new for me. So, chill out... If you dont want to help, you dont need to answer. Keep it for you, ok? Anyway, I like the djs that make a raw dubstep. Heavy bass, slow beats. When it goes to much for the ragga thing, I think it becomes boring.

Yep there are catagories for music. it is not annoying, its just the way it is.

Whether you like or not there are different sub catergories of dubstep. Its not hard to give someone alittle information on what djs play what sort of dubstep

Beny Ill: Old style, but twisted 2step remixes of ragga etc
El B: Dark garage/early dubstep
N-type: Psychadelic E'd up dubstep/ Couple dubby dubstep bits

But theres a difference between ragga and reggae dude even though the former is a type of the latter, I don't think ragga style dubstep tunes are boring but could see how some reggae ones could be. I don't know whether it is called dubstep cos it sounds like dub or because of the format but I really don't see how you can dislike the more reggae/dub side of things, but oh well horses for courses

Hm, sorry for my english. Its not my mothertong, and Ive never studied in any school or lived in any english speaking country. Sorry for those who got it as an offense. It was not. Anyway, I will rebuild the sentence: Hey guys, feel free to make fun of me and my english, or even my dubstep knowledge. I dont mind, and Im really thankfull to those who answered, making jokes on making things clear. And I didnt know that djs dont make music, just play. Nice. So Im a DJ also... And I meant ragga, not reggae. Well, Im from Brazil, living in Italy.

So I think that Im more into "dark garage". And I cant listen to reggae, but I think that dub is ok. I will try to listen the classic dubs to get more informed.

without people pushing the boundaries within dubstep, how can we ever expect to see dubstep evolve into bigger tings.

what keeps me interested in producing this music is that there are so many different styles to inspire me in producing my own compositions
