gigabyte are making the best mid size towers atm

they're not too pricey

have quick release mounts for hd's and dvd's

2 usb & one firewire port on the front with 3.5 audio i/o

+ floppy bay (for usb card reader)

and 2 hench fans front and back


this is the model i have and its pretty quiet considering the size of the fans

you could just by a liquid cooling device and fanless psu but imo not worth the hassle

and still cant see why people would want to put liquid inside a pc .. bad idea imo ... water + electric hmm lol

esp when its also been proven that fans work better

Whatup Jimbo? I would look through www.newegg.com to get some ideas. I have a case with like 5 fans and it is pretty loud even when the fans are set to low. Not enough to bother me really but I can't say it's quiet. I am told the cases with the really huge fans are pretty quiet. Other than that the liquid cooled route, don't know much about those tho.

I have this one, it's pretty quiet. Noise levels will largely depend on what graphics card/ cpu cooler you put inside more than anything though. I keep the fan speeds low when producing using speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

I built a quiet pc, and that shit WAS quiet. It has started to get noisy, think grit and shit is getting into the fans.

I used a case like this:

That's what I got. It's three ply to reduce vibration and transmission. Think it's aluminum, plastic, steel. It has great compartmentalization, cable management, and airflow.

I got a quiet powersupply, I really couldn't tell the power supply fan was on, had to put my hand over the fan to feel it. Dead silent.

Lemme tell you where the noise is going to come from:

1) Fan on the graphics card. It is increasingly hard, and maybe not even recommendable anymore to buy a graphics card w/o a fan. Those little cheap ass fans are noisy bro. My fan burned up like a couple of months into it. I use the graphics card w/o the fan... prolly not a good idea, but no trouble so far.

2) CPU fan - I got a thermalite think it's called, cooler, with a slow fan, and still it is a little noisy. It is noisier than I'd like. I think I could turn the fan off, as there is a case fan right next to it, which is close to dead silent, so I might roll with that, but fuck all, I don't feel like crawling around for it. It is quiet enough.

But when I was done with my build, I could turn my pc on and not hear that it was on. Money well spent. And I spent quite a bit. Prolly close to doubled my build expense.
