2bh i like Datsik and Excision, i just think some people just find it way too east to group them in and generalise them with those who actually to take that sound abit too far.

I respect them as sound designers, but I think their music sounds pretty cookie cutter.

This. They did really help engineer the sound, but they didn't really add much to it either.

Always liked Datsik really, I think most people were put off by them by the production forum questions lol

It's just a different vibe that I don't feel at all. The sound is completely removed from the Grime instrumentals the Dubstep I listen to evolved from, ala Joker,Hatcha,Plastician etc....

datsik is awesome, just the problem is all the fuck wit's jump on the the datsik band wagon which is why he's hated. i;ve had someone come in to HMV and ask if we had a datsik cd because 'tha mutha fuckr is so durty'

Weird! Inverted form of what psycologists call 'the Halo Effect'

Anyway, a few parts of the datsik tracks are alright. Got some rad sounds, just not fully exploited. Needs more beef less gravy! Doubt he gives a shit if unsigned cretins dislike him for being signed though!

The world owes us nothing!

i like his style better than excisions.

i need that hydraulic VIP.

its just annoying when whole sets dont have any ups and downs....tension/release.

yeh, i've always been a fan, really, just because it was so intense the first time i heard it.

honestly, i'm confused as to how they (ex/dat/borg/tomba) got labeled as "dubstep" to begin with!!! did they do it themselves? or the label? they should have come up with a different word for their sound (before brostep haha)

imo that is the main problem... everyone calls them that so the lame-o's come rushing to the internet to prove that they're "filthy", and most of them end up on this board, where all the old heads tear them a new one for being little kids.

they're some of my favorite producers, but they need to come up with something fresh, those sounds are gonna get rinsed pretty soon... especially with the change of events on the production section.... everyone will soon be making tunes so messy that no one will really want to listen to them anymore.

:D :D :D 8)

i think the reason why it was labelled dubstep was the drum pattern's, bass influence and samples.

i mean, its just different, you know? so what if something's "not dubstep", does that make the tunes any less awesome?
comparing bar9/datsik/tomba/etc to loefah and the DMZ crew, or even skream/benga... you have to admit it's a different type of sound.

tunes can have halftime flows and be in different genres... but picking apart genre's is pretty futile.

im just thinking that there should be a different word for the harder stuff.. i know it's a little late for that, and i accept the genre they're labeled under, but that it would solve all the grief on the forum... thats all

Stop making yourself look like a twat. It's all dubstep you prune, it's a genre with a very wide range of sounds...

Which part of the range came first?

sorry, didnt mean to upset the king of all genre defining. i forget the caliber of credentials i'm dealing with..

it was only a devil's-advocate reverie to stop the whining of the old heads. i understand how labeling works, i was merely making conversation. taking it so seriously is quite a disastrously foul idea.

you sir, are queen twat. lighten up. make some music, troll yourself over a cliff, or choke on your mother's vomit or god forbid, add something productive to the conversation. :t:

or write some better emo poetry for your new sig?
