Is it just me or are tracks just getting more and more obnoxious? I'm not excluded from any of this, but is it the norm for all musical genres to get more and more ridiculous as time goes on? Take metal for instance (I know old metal and new metal are fucking ridiculous) the old metal bands made riffs you could actually hear and new metal "artists" just try to go for the most disgusting distortion sound possible with the same widdly solos that you heard from Dio 20 years ago. Same thing with DnB -- we had guys who were always throwing down original shit that made you want to hit the floor and freek out, but now everybody is trying to make something ridiculously loud, ridiculously bass heavy (even as a dubstepper I say this with conviction) to the point that my ears can't pick up any of the other shit. Neurofunk (big up to Phace and Misanthrop) is obviously excluded. Now dubstep is doing it, just obnoxious wobbles and loud over-filtered drums that have no clarity. I'm not hating on anyone, I'm just an old man that wants clear music again. And no, I don't have robot ears.

It's not like the genre as a whole is moving towards "crazier" stuff. Back II Space is dropping soon and is probably the most hyped record atm, and it will be about as "grimy" as Adolph Hitler was friendly to a certain people of Semitic descent.... (which is to say it will not be grimy)

Anyways, without people experimenting and getting crazier or whatever, there wouldnt be any rock n' roll or jazz or romantic-era classical music. WE'D BE STUCK IN THE FUCKING BAROQUE AGE.
