if a track is shared to me, does that mean i can listen, but others cant. or are they downloadable?

Private tracks can be played by people they're shared with (I guess they could be downloaded if that option was enabled also), no one else will see the tracks as far as I know.

Isn't it just that you upload a track, set it to private, and then it asks you who you want to share it with?

Yeah you can set a list of email address's / soundcloud accounts, and only those people can see / listen to that track.

Yeh but how do you do it with
public tracks. Unless the only sneaky way around it is to share it whilst it's private then set it to public afterwards?

I said nothing about spamming! I just want to send it to a few contacts of mine that I don't have on AIM, but there are quite a few of them!

When editing your signature, click the 'soundcloud' tab at the top of the editing box and place the URL of the soundcloud track into these tags. Make sure it is just the url of the track, not the embed code.

So what about if i have a public track which isnt downloadable but then i share it with someone, like where you click send 'producer/dj' a song, can they they download it? or only if i originally set it to be downloaded by everyone? Like some of my tracks id like everyone to be able to hear, but so people can only download it if i drop in in their dropbox.

You would have to upload 2 instances of the song. And in the second one choose who gets to see it and enable the download option on it if you wish. This is the way of sharing 320's with people.
