exactly what it says on the tin

ive been doing my head in recently about the fact i cant think of / find any inspiration for a name to produce under ( marsstu has been my school computer username and has been for pretty much everything i sign up for ever ) i havent jumped at anything for fear of being overly cheesy, but i dont want to be too different as i think it comes across as thinking im something im not , but im getting to the stage now where im looking to be playing out and getting a few tracks finished and i cant keep putting them out as marsstu ( which is a mash up of my first and last name lol ) had a situation the other day when a promoter was asking what name he should put on the flyer for me , i nearly told him to put benny blanco for the crack but in the end just went with stu marshall.
im a believer that if your music's any good then your name dont matter , but sayin that i dont i dont think iid have the bottle to have a name like trolley snatcha, for fear of not bein taken seriously .

im sure some of you have got some good storys with how you came up with your name ? or maybe you just put your name into prostitute name generator

do you think i should pick a name and just stick with it ? or wait till something hits me ?

I produce under Introspectionist, also what it says on the tin really. I spend alot of time thinking, i tend to over think...everything...too much. Kind of relates to the name i post under here too tbh lol.
I've changed name a few times in the past, as it's nice to have something that you feel reflects your current self if i'm making sense.

well growing up, croc legend of the gobbos was my childhood game on the ps1 & end of 2009 i was struggling for a name to produce under. i'm a gamer at heart & most of my candidates were video game references. dantinis were the enemy creatures in croc, little lizard devil things. i decided to pick dantini & tbh i think i made the right choice cos everyone's loved the name & now i get called dantini instead of derek. but like a dickhead i decided to stylise it in lowercase & with a fullstop at the end, wish i hadn't done that now but a bit late now. it still looks nice but yeah i suppose its a bit long.

but a name is just a name i suppose. but i do agree that if you pick a dumb name people are more likely to be deterred by it. the bigger you go the less importance it has but for someone trying to break through having a name like STINKNUGGET ain't gonna help a great deal.

Cannabis probably. I remember sitting around saying "Sun Ra" in a bunch of ways (Sizun Rah, Sun Rizah) and then thought "Son is Raw" which I figured, is what I'd like people to think of my DJing

So yeah, I ended up going with "Son Raw" as a tribute to the jazz legend and my unfortunate love of word play.

funny you postin actually mate , i was havin a look at the whole dubfreaks thing you got goin on yesterday ( big up for that btw) and was wonderin how you came up with dantini , thought it was a sick name , but ill be honest i thought ure name was dan haha

Splut = the name we used at my college for the bit of index card that you cut up and use as a filter/crutch/whatever at the end of spliffs. No idea how the term originated. No one outside my school has ever encountered this term, so I thought it would be cool since it has an obscure meaning although to most people it's just a random name.

my big brother was called ratty, wen i used to link his friends they would call me ratty2e coz we look pretty similar.... sacked of the ratty bit and became dj 2e.... easy as that

i wanted kingduppy or Dyuke but i was neither cool enough nor hench enough nor rasta enough.... settled for ballen

When the internet was run by dinosaurs and prodigy chat rooms, my net handle was Pumpkin Kid. People called me PK. When I turned 18 or 19 'Pumpkin Kid' didn't really fit so switched to Pkay.
