in the Memory usage bit in the top left hand corner of fl7 it when ever i get towards the end of a song it allways seems to be at about 400MB+ which is wayy to much and it makes it kind of lag a bit in the song, how can i get it to use less memory without using less VST's or is it not possible??

memory saving tips in fruity loops:

-use smart disable for all effects except reverbs and delays (this can make effects kick in with a bit of a lag on playback and cut off tails - but shouldn't affect the rendered version). you can right click on the individual effects menus in the mixer to customise the smart disable function.

-try using less memory-heavy plug-ins. you can see which ones drain the most memory by running something through just the effect you're looking at. Switch off the HQ for all plug-ins option when you're not using it.

-render stuff you're happy with up - with the effects on, then remove the part (and effect) and add the rendered version (the old bounce-down method). worth saving first though under a different name so you can go back if you need to.

there's probably loads of other options too, but those are the ones i use the most.

Turn off all the FX on the mixer slots you're not using, this always works for me

i used to get the crackly noise all the time, until i realised that i didn't need to have all those massives open at the same time and that the delay i was using for 16 bars did not need to be on for the rest of the track. now everything's clear as a bell.

and if 400mb ram is too much, you do not have enough ram.

My watch has 512mb.

Check the cpu section, that's prolly where you got trouble.
