The reason i ask is becuase certain styles of music fans prefer u to mix a specific way.

great idea, doing it the same way somebody else does is sure to make your style stand out and be memorable.

who's the DJ? them or you? i know that sounds snarky and all, but seriously...if you do not have your own style what is gonna make you any more interesting than the next DJ?

No bandwagon jumping here.. Ive been into the sounds of dubstep when it first came out. I got a mate who has a radio show who spun all dubstep on his show and I used to tape the shows and go down to the record shop he owns and he gave me more knowledge on the music. Ive been planning this for at least 11 months from now. Im just now going to get it underway helping push the movement by doing a few radio appearances, parties, releases, etc.
Since you've been into the sounds of dubstep since when it first 'came out' I would have guessed you would already have a pretty good idea how other djs mix the stuff???

Not true, we aint all like some essentialist ideals, we all have lived a life and know what we like and at the same time like many things.

If you like it, there will always be people who do and dont, but its not even worth thinking about really.

If you want to do it by the book, break some vinyl into a pink thong you're wearing and sensually grind your crotch against the on off switch of the deck whispering 'ich liebe dich' every 6.2seconds whilst balancing a hamster called Timmy the Timorous on your head.

you can search up the post luke.envoy made, gives some pretty standard advice that is very necessary, ie dont play two basslines at once.

i dunno dude its not like one set of rules for how to spin dubstep, the way you mix each track to the next is on a case by case basis, the main goal being to keep the energy flow going and express how your feelin through what you play and how you play it. as a start just listen to how other djs do it like on the FWD podcasts and stuff, and then try it out on your own, experiement, and figure out what sounds best to you. if what sounds best to you sounds best to other people then your cut out to be a dj imo.

top tip - try taking the record out of its sleeve b4 placing on the deck - most records sound better played this way.
