got my first tp back this week and it sounds shite.
its quiet - honour kill style, far too bassy n was cut at the wrong speed.
(a joke i know but the label is sorting the fuckups out).
im maostly concerned about the bass though - the tracks sound fine in wav/cd/mp3 etc - was it just a bad mastering job or have got problems with my mixdowns?

Until you have a good relationship with your mastering engineer you should always attend the cut.At this stage i would call the mastering engineer and discuss it,only he/she can tell you why there is no bass.

In vinyl, are the basses still summed down to mono? I heard that they sometimes did that. Maybe I'm completely wrong...
But, maybe they did that and the L/R stuff cancelled itself out a bit?

usually everything under ~500hz gets put to mono
if there was phase cancellation i think that would show up in the stereo master... not sure

no problem with lack of bass!
theres too much of it n the whole thing sounds dull n overwhelmed by bottom end.
ihave all my sub running in mono anyway. standard.
thanks still. will have to have a chat with the mastering engineer methinks.
tho i think/hope were gonna go to you guys for the recut anyway jason!

perhaps they used multiband compression on it and did it poorly?

thas the sort f thing i expect - which is shocking cos they should be pros n the mastering i did myself (n removed before sending off) sounded better than that!
n just so ya all know it was alchemy doing the cutting

well let us know how it turns out for you...
im curious to hear what excuse they give you
i imagine they'll try to blame it on your master and pass the buck back over to you...

a similar sort of thing happened to me when we got some dubs cut onto everlasting vinyl. fat bass when i gave it to him and then NO bass when i got it back and really quiet too.
i think it comes down to the engineer, i could have done a better job myself. the 1 tune that came out the best was one that had been maximised to fuck, the rest were awful.
