I want to know purely so I can check out some more..

My best mate uses an MPC too write hip hop and now some fidget,i tried but wasnt that good at it,but it and he has pushed me off writing on keyboards and stuff too the LPD8 for beats and sample drops in production and opened many doors for live usage (sample triggers and ting) Love AKAI....
But yeah me too,id like too know more people that produce dubstep using them, its absolutely awe-inspiring stuff watching/listening too music created heavily with an MPC....

Can someone explain the benefits of using a the tiny LCD screen on an MPC over a DAW GUI +erganomic mouse/keyboard on a 20inch HD screen? Not knocking it, I just never really understood their appeal.

Yeah I understand this but for me using an MPC in 2010 is analogous to painting a wall with a toothbrush when you have a paint-roller. Yes you can do it, but it is longwinded with roughly the same results. And it is not exactly like using some analogue tape 4-track, at least with that there are benefits if you like them i.e warm tape saturation/vintage sound etc. I'm just curious if MPC does actually offer anything over a modern DAW sequencer? The only benefit I can see is them nice garagey groove templates (which can be exported surely?) Or is it just the challenge of building the house with archaic tools...

if you are a digger and a sampler, then the MPC is an asset. record a loop/break, slice it on beat, and re-perform it. plus the pads have expression.

That is kind of what I wanted to hear, but I still can't see how you could achieve better more dynamic results than say, Kontakt + Axiom controller.

Not dubstep, but there is a hip hop producer called AraabMuzik that uses MPC and does live shows improv on the MPC. It really is amazing stuff, I recommend searching YouTube for some of the videos.
