It seems like the majority of dub drops or switches up at 55 seconds
is this common knowledge? or some sort of rule?

Yeah. 16 bars at 140 is basically 27.5 seconds so a good amount of dubstep will drop at 27.5, 55, 1.22.5 etc....

If this is a troll GTFO
But you're right a lot of tunes drop at 0:55 because it's the end of 32 bars which is a regular number for mixing when DJing!
Although don't be fooled into thinking it's a rule,
IT'S NOT!!!!!!! Just so happens that it makes it easier to mix, there are so many more tunes that drop around 0:27, (end of bar 16) or longer like 1:09, or even longer, it's not a rule, just easier to DJ when they're is a regular interval of bar numbers in multiples of 4

.
NOT A RULE!!!!!
NO RULES!!!!

If you drop to early it screws things up for the DJ but dropping late is fine as the long as it's a proper sic-ed drop when it lands. I find long intros can give you a chance to be creative on the mix and it's always nice to have a variety of tunes that do different things. At the end of the day, you don't have to play from the beginning of the track.

scary to see that the new "rules" are based on what time their youtube vid is dropping
what do you think... n-type stands there by his deck with a stop watch?

i wrote this out before but didnt post cos i wernt sure if you were serious but
not really got much to do with seconds, more the tempo of the track and the bars, so say the tracks at 140bpm, and theres a 32 bar intro, then according to the math
32 bars x 4 beats per bar = 128 beats till the drop
60second / 140bpm = 0.4something seconds
0.4seconds x 128 bars = 54.something second
dont see how the time helps but thats a simple way to do it

if you worded it like this
It seems like the majority of dub drops or switches up at 16 bars
is this common knowledge? or some sort of rule?
you would not have been flamed
