I've got my samples ready here, layered my kick and layered my snares with 2 others.
Now what I'm missing is adding some reverb.
The snares are sounding ok but ending too soon, not really getting the "SPLATSHJ" effect.
I tried layering a clap on the snare but it isn't getting near what I wanted, the snares are sounding extremely hollow.
Need some tips on how to add some smooth reverb on my snares without having my kicks being involved in Reason 4.

Use a send/Aux channel?

Press tab! route each drum to its own mixer channel. Then use sends/inserts to taste.

Can't you just use some standard house snare reverb and automate it in?

It sounds like the OP is using one output for all drums in the sampler, thus having trouble verbing snares w/o "getting the kicks involved".
Answer = multiple outputs.

I remember a couple yrs ago i would make a new redrum for every damn drum. silly, but...

Ye that seems to be the case, going to rewire each snare to the mixer and trying it like that.

more importantly, you're going to wire your kicks to a different channel and keep that one dry. Put each of your snares into a channel of a 6:2 line mixer with a plate on it, wire the 6:2's outs to a channel on your main mixer. aka bussing. Watch some tutorials too.

hmmmm..

what i do is have a combinator saved with a 16:2 mixer and an instance of redrum..
all outputs of redrum are wired to channels on the 16:2

so its just a matter of creating an instrument to get this setup!
Its easy to individually effect hits.. and you also get more sends and visual control of volume(even tho i think reason's meters are shit)

for snare I usually give each hit(layer) different verb.. (very short) to make them gel.. then throw on the main verb.

Thats allmost exactly the same as what i do, except where you have the Redrum, i have an NN-XT with the outputs routed to the mixer.

Far more possibilities with the XT, so much better suited for layering hits i think, plus its the only module in resaon that displays frequency readings on the filter.

I reccomend you EQ or hi pass your reverb, that way it will sit alot lighter on the snare

So you have your whole kit inside of one sampler? There are dozens of ways to make the drum sounds, but you will make your life a lot easier if you did it a bit differently. If you were to use one sampler for kicks, one for snare ect you could effectively solve your problem.
I also suggest using a little (very little) delay with the verb to give the tails a little more presence.

Pretty good.

It's worth messing about with the 2 sends on the individual drum hits in redrum too.
