im having trouble making a high pitched doctor p /flux pavillion sound. i tried making just playing synths in higher octaves then the typical bass range but i havnt had any success , i hear rumors about the comb filter but havnt had any success with that either

Are you buy any chance talking about the bass in got to know and ect?
I was just discussing this with someone... we're clueless!

but id be curious myself if this is what your on about. Its the grit/ring I have trouble with, other then that it just sounds like a typically 2 octave spread.

I made a similarish bass using albino, filter saturation 3 turned up fairly high, and lots of resampling!!
Otherwise you could try layering sounds, so have a low grit synth and a high one...

flux pavillion definitely layers his sounds that much i can tell , hmm im using massive is there an equivalent for filter saturation in massive?
and yeah im talking about the you got to know / gold dust bass. so fucking sick !!!

i can get the sound.... but it's the volume I have trouble on, no matter how much compression/limiting I apply I can't get a loud enough result without affecting the quality of the lead

so stumped on this one

Also you could layer different formants maybe

mod osc in massive go to the phaser add phade to the osc then turn thr tuning on the mod osc up to either 12 or 24 semitones

Not so sure about Flux's synth style but I made a very similar synth using thor that cookie monsta uses in "blurgh" and other tracks like that. I'm not sure about the science behind it lol so i'm just going to note the basics..? sub sine wave, any high pitched analog type sound, and a low chord/multiosc sound running through a shaper. i set thor's shaper to "rectify" .. what ever that means. open up the filter a little and it sounded mean. the shaper makes the sub rumble a little, which distorts the analog high pitch sound and makes it "gritty", and with that added low somewhat-crunchy chord sound on top of those it added to the grittiness. note: the chord sound shouldn't be too thick. sorry i'm not so good at explaining synths but i tried my best.

You need a synth capable of FM between the oscillators.
Set one oscillator to frequency modulate the oscillator. (For instance, set osc 2 to FM osc 1).
Set the pitch of the modulator two or three octaves above the carrier. (The modulator is the one doing the modulation, in this case, oscillator 2.)
Set the mixer level between the two oscillators so you can
only hear the carrier.
Either use a saw wave on both oscillators, or use a saw wave on the modulator and a square wave on the carrier.
Adjust the FM depth to taste.
Viola Flux Pavillion!

i've got some bass sounds that are a lil like dr. p
but i can't tell you how to make them
otherwise the cat would be out of the bag, wouldn't it?

massive is subtractive synthesis. you need an fm synthesizer (FM8, Operator, etc)

Massive is not a classic subtractive synth, its more of a hybrid monster. it is not capable of FM, but it can do phase modulation (PM). PM is very simular sounding to FM.

Come on guys, do your homework!
Massive is a wavetable synth. It also has filters which subtract/filter out the sound. You can use the 4th oscillator to frequency
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Tal-Elec7ro is capable of FM between its oscillators and is fre too.

If they used Massive for that bassline, they most likely had some kind of ring modulation going on.

Theres a preset on Crystal what sounds exactly like it.
Watch crystal's downloads go up in the thousands.

errr... scream filter + playing the same note on multiple octaves and some saturation would be my bet

this, crystal is a fucking crazy plug but the interface is just not for me, I like massive more....but crystal is free and has alot of unique presets
but I don't use presets really, at least not for synth leads

hmm yeah somthing with the phase and the ring mod do you think they keep the wave types simple for that kinda sound ? like just squares and saws?
