i find reason good for making hip hop beats, but im not really feelin it for dubstep. Maybe im so used to working with audio in cubase that i cant get into reason...

hmm, 30% other at this point. I thought I said the main ones. What else are people using?
Also, about Ableton, I thought that was software to do mixing, not production. Am I wrong?

yeah, live 6.0 was voted best sequencer for 2006 by computer music (i think it was them). its a dope sequencer but rather backward from the way im used to working. If you can change your perspective and get into it, its really interesting tho.
also, some people use sonar, and the latest version of motu's DP kicks fucking ass (just ask HoChi...lol).
then of course theres the logic 5.5 crew
and the trackers crew (vaccine?)
yeah theres a lot of options these days.

Until recently, I used Reason and bounced audio to Soundforge for mastering. Now I'm experimenting with using Reason rewired into Ableton Live. That way I can make use of Live's effects and VST instruments and effects. So far I like the new approach--more possibilities.

I'm using Reason 3.0, and Sound Forge 8.0. They're very good programs.

imo (using em up to 7.0) any soundforge after 6.0 has been shitty and a step backwards

i do USE reason, but only for its instruments.
i use fl studio xxl, and rewire in reason. i use fruity as my master for my midi, except when i want to use reason for a nice sounding rhodes, for example.
i hope to add decadance to this setup, and a korg padkontrol (hope to purchase this weekend!)

used to use logic pro 6.0, but i'm not too comfortable working on a mac.
so now i'm using renoise and resampling alot more than i used to do when working with logic.

Reason rewired through Ableton, did use Cubase but find it to methodical, Abelton is a different way of working but i think its a more intuitive way once you get the hang of things.
