if so, is there anthing apart from what you can read on it i should know?

Or any recommendations on what else to get, which is firewire based, with the same (or higher) amount of in and outputs, in this price range :)

real nice interface, used it in my old studio, no problems with it and no latency or anything, i'd recommend it anyway :)

You bet it looks sexy and ive heard great things about it.

to the poeple who has been using it or uses it, can you have both trs1/4 and xlr inserted at the same time in the preamplified inserts?
because i dont want to pull out cables when im summing, that would be a pain. because my desk is facing up against the wall and its a huge desk
actually this one

and the interface will be mounted in the upper rack along with another 2unit machine and a 1unit machine.

Im actually asking because i think it looks good, but at my school we have the Focusrite Saffire PRO10 i/o and where not sure if its the computer or the soundcard but they driver just
wont work. It works partially in that we can use it inside the daw's but we cant use it with itunes for an example, or youtube and stuff like that, also the software
that comes with it doesnt work.

EDIT:

Its the new.

Ive got a pro24 dsp - the smaller one, like it a lot. Cant get 64 samples latency tho, 128 is the lowest stable but this is ok.

The Steinberg MR816 is meant to have awesome preamps, but a bit flaky software, and Steinberg were/are notorious for sumping support for older hardware. Still supported now but this is what i read (i was looking into these sort of interfaces).

The Fireface from RME are also meant to be the best around, but priciest. Rock solid drivers, decent IO and a great mixer utility.

Read the reviews on SOS.

:)

Havent looked at the steinberg but will do :)

the RME fireface is too pricey for me, i was thinking about saving up for it, but i dont think it will be worth it, and i dont think i wanna spend that much on an interface right now.

The liquid pre's looks interesting aswell, and over time i want high high end preamps, because i want to record bands and stuff for a living.

Yeah im gonna buy a patchbay no matter what i get. :)

im just concerned if its possible to have both trs and xlr connected at the same time and.
For example my mate has a pair of krk rokit rp5 g2, receiving output from from his audio interface via the xlr input,
and output from his dj mixer, via the trs input. When both are hooked up, the monitor is unable to receive audio from the xlr input.
absolutely no clue why.

I have a Saffire Pro 40 and love it. Nice sound, very stable, no driver problems whatsoever. Very advanced and powerful mixing software. If you dont need the liquid pre's, i would consider this one, its cheaper and also has 8 In and Outs.

Looks about right to me :)

Notice the firewire on th back of it. It has two so you can daisy-chain two of them together if you need to expand to 16 ins / 20 outs instead of 8/10.

not bad for 8io. only thing else in that range'd be the MOTU boxes and the mackie onyx.

personally i'd still choose metric halo over focusrite, specifically for the DSP cards.

Metric halo is $$$£££$$$ Though. In my experience you cant go wrong with MOTU or focusrite. I have a spare Mackie Onyx satellite (2 in/out) for portability and its built like a tank!

metric halo is just way beyond this, its almost not even comparable. :)

im not going for either the onyx og motu, but thanks for the advice!

I really think this is going to be the one, i was really reconsidering getting the RME fireface again
but i really dont like that half the inputs is on the front, thatll be a mess with cables. i want them going out the back to a stagebox propably,
because ill be recording in the other end of the room in a box ill be building this winter.
i mainly need all the i/o's for summing, and ive heard that this unit has pretty good ad converters aswell.
