Following a short, much-needed break from London's clubbing circuit, we're delighted to be returning for our 2nd birthday with what's set be our biggest party yet, at a venue regarded by many as the city's best. To mark the occasion, we're teaming up with Ali Wells and his Perc Trax imprint, who, in turn, is rekindling the label's clubnight activities after a lengthy hiatus. Between us, we've put together a massive line-up which, in bringing together a host of talent from the deeper, darker end of the house/techno/dubstep continuum, represents the Colony and Perc Trax mantras to the full.
Headlining is Belgium-born, Berlin-based DJ/producer/scene-shaper Peter Van Hoesen, who'll be playing an exclusive, newly prepared live PA for the first time in London. Having graced the city with his grooving brand of dark, dub-infused techno only once so far this year, the Time To Express label boss (who operates as an artist/sound designer by day) will be dropping the kind of deep, fucked up, constantly mutating machine music that has seen him rip up the world's top clubs and festivals, and simply isn't to be missed on Corsica's crunching Funktion One rig. Another artist to play London only rarely (despite actually living here!), and whose music has made a comparably seismic impact over the past few years, is David Kennedy aka Ramadanman. A pioneer of the deeper side of the dubstep coin, he's become increasingly unafraid to take his stripped, synth-heavy sound into both house and junglist circles, with releases on the likes of Aus Music, Deep Space Media and Critical Recordings, as well as devastating post-garage crossover cuts for Hessle Audio, Hemlock and, most recently, Swamp81. He's as tight as they come behind the decks (check his Bestimix for evidence), and will be given plenty of time to work his magic on the night.
Further exclusive live action comes courtesy of Perc himself, who'll be playing his newly spawned live PA for the first time in the UK. A man with his finger firmly on the pulse of contemporary club music, he's won plaudits from across the scene with a barrage of tough, heads-down productions for Stroboscopic Artefacts, Ovum, Kompakt and CLR (to name but a few), and after smashing up our 1st birthday last November, it's a given he'll be doing the same in the dark confines of Corsica. Meanwhile, Holland's Borris Bunnik aka Conforce - who, much to our dismay, suffered the wrath of the Icelandic ash cloud when we booked him back in April - will (finally) be bringing his deep, Detroit-infused take on house and techno to the Big Smoke. He's been all but on fire of late, with a wonderful debut LP for Manchester's Meanwhile imprint and a spate of high-class productions for Curle, Field, Modelisme and, most notably, Delsin, so expect the goods.
DJ support come from Forward Strategy Group, who've been making a name for themselves with some super-tough productions and mixes of late; Kowton, who played a cracking set for us back in March, and whose work for Idle Hands has pricked many a clued-up ear; Truss, whose recent Osbasten EP and collaborative work with Donor have marked him out as a serious talent in UK techno; and Dave Twomey aka Tr_nch, who's spending some time away from his Mariana activities (one of Tokyo's best clubnights) whilst he prepares for a debut release with Time To Express. And COLONY resident MB and CB will be on hand, as standard, with their usual selection of deep, genre-bending sounds. Serious business, all in all.
Factor in two screaming Funktion One PAs, synapse-tickling visuals and lighting, a sprawling smoking area and one of the best crowds in London, and you've got yourself a proper party. Dirt-cheap advance tickets are on sale now - get onto it.
