Has anyone made the move from one DAW to another when they didn't actually want to?

Recently had some equitment stolen including my MacPro which has left me stuck with Windows XP on the home PC until I can save up enough cash for a new Mac, keen to stay producing though I've so far tried Cubase 5, Reason 5, Repear 3 and Sonar, all of which are excellent in their own right, but I just couldn't get into them, some of which I put down the restrictions on the demo, but mostly down to the fact I found Logic so quick and easy, loved the sound quality ( I don't actually know if Logic sounds better in reality, but to me, I've always prefered my mixdowns on it ) the interface was great and I rarely had to venture outside of the bundled plugins...

Has anyone been forced to switch DAW in the past? How did you find it? Is it worth sticking at it and forcing yourself to work?

Any horror or not looked back since I changed storys?

I once tried to move from Cubase to FL studio.

It lasted about 15 minutes before I got pissed off with it and went back to Cubase.

My advice would be to stick with Cubase or Reaper untill you get a replacement Mac as they are the closest relation to Logic.

[EDIT] - Make sure you insure your next Mac dude.

Get logic 5.5?

I switched to Cubase and Protools when Apple bought Logic. For me, even though I didn't want to switch, it wound up being one of the best moves I had made. I now use Cubase 5 and Nuendo 5. Cubendo due to digi's overpriced hardware. I spent the digi hardware money and went high-end outboard/mics. Granted, the latest builds of these 2 daws are not where I want to be (overall stability and resource consumption) I still do not think I will switch to anything else and there is only a mild regret that when I get frustrated with Steinberg.

I agree: If you liked Logic, find a way to get back there. In the meantime, find something that will work that you could back to Logic when you get a new Mac.

Interface is very much the same as Logic and from reading the online manual it seems routing and everything is almost exactly the same, so hopefully it lives up to the hype

Do not attempt to try that Studio One if anyone is considering it.

I cannot being to explain how much of a ball ache it was to install, let alone use.


Avoid like the plague.
