I'd say it's about the same innit?It's okay for some white kid from the UK to make finger pistols,but a black/white/hispanic/whatever dubber,reggae,or dubstep artist from the US can't use patois,simply because they aren't from Jamaica?

Delendi's right.It's all about embracing and acepting other cultures.If I have to get used to asain kids running around saying "n*gga",then I think patois/pseudo-patois is a much easier thing to swallow.

Surely the very fact that this conversation is being had supports the idea that people from differing backgrounds are different?

I dont care who/where anything i might say comes from, if i think its amusing/seems an appropriate word, im not going to use it/not use it purely because of the geography of my birth place. If there are people who feel like a word or phrase is their communities, then in my mind they are being seperatist and positively encouraging "social isolation or involvement in cliques". Which I cannot see a positive in.

For example, I happen to think that the idea of something being "shower" is one of the fucking funniest pieces of terminology ive ever heard.

innart... we're exploring new cultures, activities, musics etc all the time and sometimes there are occasions where there really isn't a word in our traditional english (or wherever you're from) dialect which describes what we see/feel/hear. you'd have to use LOTS of words instead of just one patois or whatever else word. some tunes are just a lot more 'shower' than 'really rather pleasant on the ear'

instead of the english "what the hell?!!" i use the farsi "EHH!!". it relays both shock and utter "what the fuck"ness.
