Before the drop into the main chorus of a track there is usually that build up. One of the main features of this is either a nice sounding synth that just increases in pitch toward the drop or a massive swelling white noise etc... Anyone know of any good ways to make these sort of sounds? I'm using reason by the way. Thanks in advance for anyone who has input.

Usually just known as the drop mate, but yeah ways of making the builds have been covered before, normally just a case of automating either pitch/filter/reverb/delay

Get a synth with a white noise generator option, run a long note (4 bars, for example), with a filter gradually opening up/delay gradually building with automation on it.

Bounce out the audio so that for future tunes you can use this as a straight audio clip to be dropped in as and when.

I've got a folder called 'Sweeps' that has a shedload of these sort of things, not just white noise. Got some bass notes that growl out of nowhere, sirens that turn into car alarm sounds etc etc, all bounced out and and ready to use.

I'm lazy and don't synthesize my risers or any effects for that matter I just use sample packs. But hey if Jakwob can do it....

Buy an old kettle with the whistle that blows when the water is boiled, and record it.

cheers everyone, i got what i need now. i googled something once, but it came up with no results. i didnt really know what to call it, but i guess "risers" is exactly what it is. i thought it might have a more technical name though lol
