hes got a few good songs under his belt, hes not exactly talentless - knows his way around a studio, hes a pretty good dj, and his tweets are sometimes really really funny. and blackberrys are cooler than iphones.
i also think he was chosen, along with that art gallery guy, to try and market blackberrys to "cool" media/entertainment people, the kind of people that will have heard of diplo and know about his music

The guy's a total twat and I despise his trainspotter attitude towards music: he goes around grabbing what he wants from underground scenes, blows up the most dumbed down and ridiculous aspects for mindless consumers of cool and then moves on to the next thing like a fucking virus. Zero integrity, zero respect. Shite producer as well, terrible electro versions of better sounds the lot of it.

In the states, they are targeting the Blackberry to the hipster culture. Commercials with horrendous music and fixed gear bikes, etc, all the hipster references.
