It's just well processed detuned saw waves I think.

Yeah for that bass but so many people dont pay attention to how shit it would sound if not layered. Jokers real talent? Hes a badman with those cheesey synth-sax sounds 8)

honestly loads of it is damn near close to presets and basic as hell
it's all about how it's played and layers on top of each other

You can get this sound pretty easily by playing with a couple of different wave forms (usually saw/pulse), and playing with your automation on cutoff, resonance and pitch :)

Basic waveforms, presets, reverb!

Explore the notes.

seriously go into second hand shops and snag old synths and desktop versions
the prests are so great if you can play
that's what purple sound is to me
no overthinking or processing, just pure musicality

Pretty much everyone said what i came in here to say! Open up any synth or use any hardware synth, and every time there'll be at least one preset with at least the start of the sound you're after. Then it's all about tweaking, plus try to make it sound like it's played 'live' instead of over quantised. Plus it's all about the portamento.

this
tons of rack synths using very classic sounds
for me purple tunes are about the melody. theyre catchy as fuck
i written very purple sounding tunes using nothing but massive. you can pretty much write anything with massive.

Yup - a good melody plus really clever use of pitch bend, turns it from a synth, into a fucking sexy purple sound :D

As people have said, choose the raw sounding presets, and maybe tweak them a bit but there is usually a few good presets. They're usually the presets that you gloss over haha

also put some portamento on there

The track in my sig (Intima) i wouldn't call 'purple' but it definitely pays homage to the synth style. All the synth work was done with just tweaks of presets inside a free synth, and then copious amounts of reverb and delay. I'll say no more..
