I'm re-posting this from my site Floridub.com, because why the hell not? :) For the full article as well as a free track go here.

We also have an exclusive interview and mix coming from Alexandre this Monday, which I'm very hyped about. I've had to sit on his mix for the past week and it's been on steady repeat for most of that time. I can't wait to be able to drop it for y'all.

BTW, for some exclusive TORQUX tracks and mixes send an e-mail to torquxmusic@live.com with "FLORIDUB" in the subject line.

Without further ado....
FLORIDUB.COM's INTERVIEW WITH TORQUX

Jimmy, you were kicking ass in the breaks scene for a few years. What prompted the cross over into Dubstep?

Dubstep is basically half tempo breaks. In the Duel Calibre days we were subconsciously making it in our breakdowns. The cross over wasnt hard at all. The relentless tune actually started life as a breaks track, I listened to a few dubstep bits and really liked the sound, so thought I would give it a try.

I noticed that most of the images on your various sites have a similar style. Do you create all your own artwork?

No [those are] done for me by a guy called Jak Gibberish – http://www.myspace.com/mr_gibberish

What originally got you interested in EDM, and specifically Dubstep?

I had always been into it for some reason, had loads of old rave cds and got into djing at an early age. I was hooked on dubstep as soon as I heard it. I really love the harder kind of stuff, but am broadening my tastes at the moment.

Who are your biggest Influences?

If I had to name one group I would say Noisia. I love those guys. Their sound is amazing. I love listening to music and thinking, how the hell do you make that sound?! I can take an influence from anything really though, movies help me. Seeing some crazy images and hearing the sounds sound designers create. Then I try and use sounds from different sources, for example a nice harp melody in a build up before a crazy drop!

Name some record labels that you follow.

The ones I’m on, Wicky Lindows, Rottun, Play Me and then others such as Never Say Die, Division, Circus, not as much labels though as opposed to artists.

Which artists are you following right now?

Chasing Shadows, Barenoize, Excision, Skism, Datsik, Funtcase, Noisia, Spor, Proxy, Polymorphic, Numbernin6, Propertingz, Cutline, Zeds Dead and more …

What do you think Dubstep expresses about contemporary urban culture?

Its got great energy to it. The raves can be so crazy! There’s a growing network of some crazy people too.

Where do you see Dubstep going in the future?

Hopefully it will stay at the similar level it is now, still underground, but people know about it. Aslong as it stays around I’m happy.

Which DAW software do you prefer?

Logic. I’ve had 7, 8 and now on 9. I started on Fruity Loops and Reason.

What are some of your favorite VST plug-ins?

Massive and most of the Native Instruments stuff is pretty good. Also like Rob Papens stuff, Albino, Predator, Blue.

What are your plans in the near future? Any upcoming releases/ events you can tell us about?

Got a few events lined up and some more to be announced

The next release is on Wicky Lindows this month/November with Relentless – VIP, Indigo (with Twist) and Fear (with Twist) which will be on vinyl and digital.

15th Oct – Future in Nottingham,
6th Nov – Gorilla Dub in West London,
25th Nov – Fresh in Derby,
3rd Dec – Graffiti Break in London

Anything else you’d like to say?

Im giving out a free track at the moment and have a couple more lined up, including 2010 Refix of Dooms Night. To get these any other bits just send me an email [with "Floridub" in the subject] to torquxmusic@live.com.
