Or am I missing something that specifically makes it turf dancing or is the guy dancing called Turf?
Turf dancing is different depending on the block or "turf" you're at. Like each crew and area has it's own style so it's really all over the place. I've been seeing a lot more of those slow motion moves lately thoughhellfire machina wrote:Liking it a lot, especially the slow mo moves, is this not poppin lockin for a new generation? Turfing comes from the bay area, mainly Oakland. It was originated with the hyphy movement, and became popularized with E-40's "Tell Me When To Go" in the mid 90's. Turf stands for "Taking up the Dance Floor" Gigging is similiarly related to Turf dance, deriving from the Mac Dre and the Hyphy movement. Turfing is a freestyle type of dance adding your own swagger personalize it. A lot of the movement is smooth and with gliding movements sort of in a liquid/moon walk type of fashion and isolations of every part of your body possible making connections from your fingers all the way down to your toes like a wave and maybe throwing in a pop or two on the way. Arms movements consist of "tutting" making box-like shapes with your arms, hands, and fingers. Turfing is sick, as I have studied several forms of dance this is by far one of the most creative I have come across.hellfire machina wrote:Liking it a lot, especially the slow mo moves, is this not poppin lockin for a new generation?
