I'm pretty sure this is a joke. It sort of has to be.

dubstep is great in the sense that it contains real music that can be appreciated by those without a background in edm.

please for the love of god allow rock vocals tho.

Actually cringed. Seriously, who in their right mind would make that, then think "Yeah, this sounds good."

Nobody "forbids" it; it's just that dubstep needs vocals like fish need bicycles.

You're thinking of Revered & The Makers.

Of course it's a joke. "The Rev" is a massive joke. Utter embarrassmentcore.

There is going to be some very interesting indie / uk bass music crossover happening soon - in fact it's already started with the xx, but there are going to be much more obvious crossovers coming... some will be good, some not. But this shit isn't even anything to do with that, it's just a rubbish chancer leaping on his thirty-seventh bandwagon.

yeah, the reverend was in my local paper (sheffield, his and my hometown) talking about his 'indiestep'. seems strange because most of the interview he was talking about music thats pushing boundaries and supporting upcoming sounds, when these tunes are just mediocre re-hashes of the unimaginative side of dubstep, with a oasis-styled vocal. His accent is similar to mine and its what i'm used to hearing day to day, but over dubstep? cringe, please stop rev.

This man knows. I've had my eye on a band called Don't Wait, Animate for a while. They seem to be getting quite a nice amount of hype recently.
