Ok so Deadly Habit had a idea of creating a community based minecraft world, where every person had a set amount of time adding on to the world before they have to hand it over to the next person. and btw, I created this because I thought posting it in the minecraft thread would get a bit messy.

Instructions:

1. Post in this thread if you wish to be included (the order in which people post is the order in which people send the world to each other)
2. Wait for your turn, the person before you will pm you a link to download the world. (If anyone doesn't know how to install worlds, post in this thread and I will show you)
3. Add on to the world and make any changes you wish (Don't destroy other peoples work, just add on to it/improve it)
4. There is a time limit, (Not yet decided) try your best not to exceed it
5. When you are finished, put the world folder in a zip/rar file and name it according to the order you are in. (I have named it FortDSF.rar, second person would name it FortDSF2.rar, and so on)
6. Upload the zip/rar file to a free file host; (Dropbox is a good one, google it. well worth the download.) and then pm the link to the person after you. (I will create a list in this thread as more people join)
7. (Optional) Post screenshots in this thread to show other people your creations.


Right, now on to my part of the world! I have used INVedit simply because i think it would be extremely tedious to go through the first few nights which are extremely boring..

i can host the files on my site if ya want and give all participants a link and login details for ftp to a directory for us to use
also whats a good time period for each person to have with the world and are we going to expand on each others creations without asking first or just develop our own areas?

dont waste your bandwidth mate, dropbox is more than enough. its the best free file host there is, followed by mediafire..

and i think a shorter time limit would be best because then there would be lots of distinct little things if that makes sense.. so instead of big castles scattered around everywhere there would be 1 big thing made by lots of people.

and im cool on people expanding my shit as long as they don't delete anything. unless they have to in order to expand.

Can we not just make a server so we don't have to play pass the parcel with the save file? I'm sure it's not that difficult to do Hell, I don't mind setting up my Server app. to load on startup if it's that bad Don't know about latency for our overseas brethren dow :3

this. it's a waste of time. i'll see if i can get a server up some time next week. i'll put that weird ass world i generated on it

multiplayer is FUCKED atm

I'm down as fuck when we get a server up. Passing the file around gets messy and you get overwrites and shit.

it's simple click world folder zip and send
open your saves folder and extract to saves

the SMP is too fucked atm to be worth a damn even if someone sets up a server
anyways gonna do a lil more work tonight and send off to collige and i'll be setting up a lil folder on my site for current version and passing out ftp details to peeps on the list to use so we don't have to deal with free services

well set it up so if anyone wants to play the current world it will be available here http://tentativerecordings.com/dsfminecraft/
it should be up to date as people update it for passing on to the next person
also i'll try to keep the cobblestone path system going time allowing

i'll try to update this map and key as it hits my turn and if you guys lemme know what you add on

Don't have to do SMP, can always just play Creative or has Notch changed it so you can't play like that anymore?
