A Question About Digital Mystikz

Ok, i've been a fan ever since i heard dubstep back in 07, which the first tunes i heard were Haunted by DMZ, and Blipstream by Skream, those are the tunes that got me into the genre.. So i'm not an ignorant listener..

However, i've only just noticed recently that "Digital Mystikz" which is of course Mala and Coki, not talking about DMZ (which is the label and group etc comprised of Mala, coki, Loefah and pokes.) But Do Mala & Coki when they release tunes as Digital Mystikz, make them in the studio together? because of the return 2 space lp, was essentially just mala's music but it was labeled as "digital Mystikz" same as coki's forthcoming lp, urban ethics... its just cokis tunes.. then that got me thinking about Education/Horrid Henry which 1 tune is mala's and the other coki's... so i was wondering if they just release their own tunes but together sorta thing.. or do they actually produce and spend time together in the studio collabarating on every record?

Sorry if this is a pointless question but its better than a "vinyl Vs. Digital" or "borgore/mt eden is ...." thread.

bigup DMZ every time

Thanks

Yeah they release stuff that they have written individually under the digital mystikz name. Just check the written/produced by on the credits on either discogs or the vinyl itself! Im sure they spend quite a bit of time in the studio together though.

They don't produce together (anymore), I think.
But they are like ying & yang, 2 different sounds that make 1!

I do wonder about this too, I thought Twisup was by Mystikz and Loefah? But anyway, are their old tunes collabs? cos it certainly seems that way.

Haunted seems like something they both made though, as with anti war dub... haunted has the dark twisted sounds coki makes but the elegance of a mala tune.. and anti war dub has the chillness and vibes as a mala tune however coki's influences shine through on the record.. it seems as though they don't collabarate anymore.. but its not like they need to haha they still put out quality amazing records

'haunted' was just coki i believe. in that rbma lecture mala cites it as a coki tune (i think).

also some tunes could be deceiving. like if 'bass' had been label as digital mystikz, would anyone of guessed it to be a coki tune?

nah, Twisup is by Loefah - hence why on DMZ003 it's "Loefah - Twisup - Youngsta & Task VIP"

Image

the Digital Mystikz thing is either of them - hence there will be 2 LPs on DMZ this year, one with all Mala tunes, one all Coki tunes, but they're still both Digital Mystikz LPs.

i think it's pretty easy to tell most of the time who made which digital mystikz track

only one i've ever really wondered about was 'thief in the night' but pretty sure it's a coki thing though...

the soul jazz & tectonic releases have their actual names on the label too.

Haunted is by Coki and Anti War Dub is by Mala.
