Alright gentlemen.

Just on the lookout for any techniques or samples i could potentially use as music to a horror film. I'm pretty clueless on ideas to create tension so any help on dischords and literally any techniques used in horror scores would be great. I say samples too as this doesn't need to be an original composition it can all be samples if need be - I just need to demonstrate my ability to put together a soundtrack that fits in with the video and then EQ in prep for the human speech, automated dialogue replacement etc.

TLDR - Any eerie or screeching samples to create tension, or any playing techniques to do the same thing.

Take a sample of a train horn, and slow it down. haven't acctually tried it yet, but from this video it sounds pretty scary.

pitch bend is your friend... use it subtley

Well big range in dynamics can help alot, so loud crashes really sound loud if you get what i mean.

some basic techniques :
- really pitched down sample.
- lot of reverb
- distortion
- somes chords
- fm synth
- granular stuff
- field recording
