Hey, i am looking for some high quality headphones for music production. Can anyone recommend some of the best ones? I'll spend up to £500, i need ones that are flat frequency response. Thanks.

If those are out of the price range (don't actually know how expensive they are) try the 240's. Done beautifully for me so far.

i mean i dunno why you want headphones maybe because you cant have too much sound where you are or whatever, but if you wanna spend 500 quid why not just get some monitors? i only have headphones cos i couldnt afford monitors haha, i would like those akgs though my sennheisers are shit

Sennheiser HD25s are pretty good

They're for the laptop, as i'm going to thailand for a few months and want to make music on the move. I'll spend up to 500 as i want a decent pair, but if i can get some for less then thats good!

I don't think I would take that much audio gear to thailand with me btw.

no audio interface, is it worth getting one then? i just wanted to take laptop and headphones, and maybe a small midi keyboard. Thought that'd be ok. I already have some shure srh750dj headphones but they're not flat response so i thought upgrading the headphones would give better sound. Could maybe get a pcmcia audio interface too if it'll make much difference.

No matter how much you spend on headphones, they are only as good as what you feed them. So if you want to feed a £500 set of headphones, with a crap, cheap signal then go for it. When I travel I try, and take the minimum amount of shit I can, and leave all my nice audio gear at home. If you really want to make tracks out their, I would just take a cheap laptop, and some cheap headphones, and mix that shit down when I get back home.

This. Ever been to thailand before? I saw a guy with a bloody face running away from 3 other guys with machetes in downtown bangkok at night. My advice is keep your cash discreet and don't flash it about.

Also, no matter how much you spend on headphones, if you're just connecting to a shitty laptop headphone jack, then there wouldnt be much difference. I'd suggest you get the NI AUDIO 2 DJ. It's a proper good soundcard and it's the size of a pack of ciggarettes.

I'll be travelling around and wanted to stay light. I think i'll take the advice and stick with my headphones i have and mix when i get back. That NI Audio cad looks nice tho!

I didn't realise that laptop audio was thought of that badly. Whats wrong with it? I listen to a lot of music on my headphones and i thought it sounded pretty good with the built in sound card. Is there really that much of a difference?

if i was in your situation i'd just use some average headphones and then do your mixdowns when you get back. high quality headphones normally need a headphone amp.
