I actually prefer more of the Detroit Ghettotech to Chicago Juke, but there are a lot of similarities.

that might be one of the most remixed tunes, every year at the first few demfs I swore I heard a different style remix at every one. and i have no idea which remix but I would imagine it was on databass / twilight 76 if that helps.

Crap. But yeah, I'll look into finding it, thanks! When I checked the original it sounded really familiar to me anyway.

To me it sounds like the original sped up and with some beat added, not really an improvement imo. Classic track Knights of the jaguar..

It's not a remix, it's the original: Rolando - "Knights of the Jaguar" (Underground Resistance) played on 45rpm, -8 pitch.
Generally in Michigan re: Ghettotech/Jit:
- People don't call it ghettotech in Detroit, never did. They just called it booty music or booty shit, there was no real name.
- People always play a mix of Miami Bass, Chicago House, Ghettohouse >>> Juke, Detroit Techno, Detroit Electro, and Detroit booty records. The tempo people play in Detroit is 140-160, to do that, you have to play house/techno records on 45, -8 like in that video.
Re: Juke BPM
- The current standard bpm for Juke in Chicago is 160. In the mid-90's, ghettohouse (which evolved into juke) was around 135, the tempo slowly shifted upwards from there.
here's my profile on the site in case you want to look at it or something

I know Ghettotech has always been a nebulous term...

growing up in detroit, i actually got to work with gillespie and godfather (the guys that run/own databass and twilight 76), i still have boxes of vinyl they would toss my way. Going to have dig them out again.
I also remember everyday (and i think its still true to this day) from 4-6pm on the radio, they had djs (during my time it was godfather) spinning "ghettotech" for the drive home... legend.
I personally cannot stand the revival of juke, especially the djs that let songs ride. Juke/Ghettotech has always been synonymous with turntablism. Now we have these juke songs that are 4+ minutes long, rediculous. All my old juke records are ~2 minutes per song and I like it that way, it forces the dj to be creative with juggling and etc.

And what do they use for that rolling drum noise in between the snares? 909 toms or something?
lots of 808 and 909 toms and snares for those rolls. try writing the roll and then transposing it up or down.
