I made a short list and I was thinking... Some of important accomplishments in the scene were made or registered by women... Both in Dubstep and Grime scenes... What do you think? Do you have other names to point?
Sarah Lockhart
Mary Anne Hobbs
Georgina Cook
Chantelle Fiddy

yeah the dmz 2nd birthday was my girlfriend's first big dubstep gig and she remarked on how women were in the minority - bout 10% she reckoned.
donno though, women on this forum really know their stuff but again it seems to be mostly guys
more I say more, especially in production areas !

why? women in clubs yes but doesnt matter what colour/gender/age makes music does it?- it should all be about the music and faceless. I'me all for women getting into it but there are too many of these 'ladies night' type things where you get female DJ's playing just cos they're female, positive discrimination, dont need any of that in dubstep.
i mostly agree with this.
to me its more that humans is humans, nuff said.

Chatting to two ladies from Tramps With Amps sound system last night, and they might be up for doing some free party business with some dubstep at some point. Both called Georgina as well.
Will see if I can get them along to Streamizm so we can discuss south coast dub plans
To be honest, dubstep seems to be one of the most women-friendly scenes that I know of for new producers, promoters and djs.
Big up Ikonica and Subeena - big tings

BUT if dubstep did have a lot more females in it, it would cause a lot more guys to come to dubstep nights for the wrong reasons.
Guys + Beer + Women = Trouble.
And that's why I love dubstep, the cream of the crop appreciate it
I'd like to see more women getting into the sound and not just going because there is a surplus of guys to get their teeth into.

I think we're in a pretty decent position now. Although guys are still in the majority it doesn't feel like a boys club or anything
