This album contains 13 great tracks. Most of the tracks are heavy hitters and are really just madness in terms of bass weight.
I'm really liking the album. And "Fade To Nothing" and "Can't Sleep" are welcome changes to the bass onslaught. "Arcane" and "The Fifth" hit especially hard.
That being said,
One of Us was much more of an album to me. It had a real flow to it and much more diversity. It had a bit of everything and sounded more like an album rather than 13 great tracks with the same theme. I prefer "One of Us" over this, but I am loving all the individual tracks on this. "Glimpse of Hope" is really the track that defines the album. It has so much potential if just a few more atmospheric elements had more focus on them, but it still a beast of a track that I would easily rate 8/10.
Great album, probably one of the heavies we'll hear all year and produced quite superbly. But KMinds set the bar to a very high standard with "One of Us" and that one just felt like a whole. That was album with a flow/story and more diversity. A well deserved 8/10.

I know what you mean - One Of Us was a journey, many moods and emotions throughout the whole album.. Can't Sleep does have a different feel but is still a big album (can't say I dislike any of the tunes) and shows that Kryptic Minds are easily one of the best production wise.

Been anticipating this since it was announced - it is filling my ears right now. Nice artwork. Black Box on point again.
Joeki - I assume you have been listening to this since Wednesday - don't you think it takes a few more listens for the flow of an album to develop? Not sure if I agree that "One of Us" had more diversity. It maybe sounded a bit more organic but it was basically built around 140 bpm halfstep (apart from 'something to nothing' and 'distant dawn'), whereas this LP opens up with 'brief passing' at about 124 bpm(?). I'm so used to hearing '1000 lost cities' at the start of their studio mix for Blakdown, it might take a while to get used to it as the closing track on here.
"One of Us" was my album of 2009, if this ends up being outside my top 3 this year, 2011 will have been outstanding.

Agreed. One of Us is still a stand out as whole in all of music, the segues to the full tracks are inspired to say the least. Its methodical and well executed music, I still play the thing from beginning to end barring a rare occasion since it sounds... well,
oriented is the only term that comes to mind.
Mine won't be here for like another week and half so unless someones is kind enough to send me FLAC's or WAV's of it I'll have to rely on the samples given on Redeye/Chemical, which don't really do it justice.
I thought the The Fifth was tied with Beyond for best track of 2010 so its well anticipated, and that alone quells any doubts of disappointment.

Was quite shocked to find it in a 2nd hand shop actually, I knew some people who worked there and when I went in they said it got dropped off (most likely from someone at the label?) hadnt been played before (even better), they gave it to me for a tenner
