The 'Soul Motive' thread.

I figure it's about time we have a thread where we can keep all of you up to date on the wonderful things we're currently doing and done.

This year has been a mixed bag for Soul Motive, plagued by delays but still delivering some amazing music. Eleven Tigers' 'Clouds are Mountains', Headhunter and Geiom with Luvdup and Luna respectively and Julio Bashmore's Batak Groove and Around. We had hoped to be further down our release schedule by this time, but with distribution and some legal matters, we have had to put even Phaeleh back till our first release in 2011. Next year is quite exciting, music from Phaeleh, Eleven Tigers, Peverelist, Dark Sky, Macc and Coleco's debut album in just the opening months. We'll introduce Type to the label as well as some other very exciting talent. Some of the artwork has been exceptional (imo) as well, our man Shifteye http://www.shifteye.com has done a lot. Headhunter and Geiom's being a particular favourite.

We also had our first label parties! Woowee, they're a lot of fun, some busier than other :D Bristol, Glasgow and Brussels so far and the big one this Friday in Bristol:

(For which we are giving away 3 free tickets: http://www.soulmotive.co.uk/site/?p=846 )

Every year I see artists and labels always say '2011 is our year/my time/when we're doing it big', I won't say that. It will be a very interesting year as the label begins to focus more on live performers and maybe even bands towards the end of the year. I'm genuinely excited (and nervous) to see what comes of it all. I will as always keep y'all up to date on possible via DSF and : http://www.soulmotive.co.uk/

I LOVE SOUL MOTIVE :h:
such a sick label, I remember the thread for your first release!! every release has been brilliant, especially like 001,002, 007. Both tunes from 007 are in my newest mix for an online magazine ;)

Originally we were with Z Audio and changed to Baked Goods at the beginning of the year. They helped us with the more 'pretty' approach we take. And they hav secured us further American distribution via Forced Exposure. So yeah hopefully Soul Motive will become more prevalent in more shops over the coming months.

Cheers for your support.

Haha, we are trying our best. We did actually restrict the free mp3s to only those who bought the vinyl from us directly. Undecided whether it's worked or not! Suggestions welcome.

Hardcore punk labels do that a lot. It works for them as people are more inclined to buy the records to have as collectables whilst having the MP3s for everyday use. As for the sharing side of it once they've been purchased, I'm unsure.
