How to make Skrillex+ Bare Noize scatta bass??

I know posts requesting how to make X bass are discouraged, but I have not found any information anywhere of how to make anything that sounds like this.

This sounds like lucifer beatboxing. No shit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw-YjVp_ ... re=channel

I have no idea where to start crafting a bassline like this.
No doubts it could be done in massive, but how do you manipulate the fm/formants and shit to get that really low fm vocal tone?
Anyone knowledge of the signal flow and resampling technique required to get this type of bass would be greatly appreciated

It's just resampling. You can't get that sound solely in Massive. I've found that grabbing my bassline, copying it over and over with different effects/plugins each time will eventually 'dirty' up your original bassline.

to me this music isnt even remotely dubstep - im not trying to start one of those BRING BACK THE OLD DAYS type things, but im just wondering when do you draw the line and say "okay, look - we're on some new sound thats evolved from dubstep but that aint what its called"

in all actuality though, Try experimenting with distortion, flanger, and automating filter amounts on maybe a hi-pass or something. Beyond that its all about rythmic composition.

i had some success with a low frequency saw wave, formand filter and distortion. but the sound design on skrillex's stuff is amazing, its hard to copy a sound like that.

Yea i must admit, link in OP is shit hot synth wise.

Not sure if its the youtube upload, but the drums dont live up to the rest of the track, seem a bit flat in comparison to the rest of the track.

Thanks for all the input!

So, Am I correct in thinking that this approach would work?

Massive/whatever softsynth -> Split frequencies-> Ableton's native flangers/phasers/whatevs -> WOW filter, Camelphat

And just keep chopping and layering until I have a thick meaty bass?

And what should this new genre be called? It's past dubstep. Like neurofunk/electro/grime... First one to make up a suitable genre name gets +10 internets

At what point should I be applying lowpass filter modulation?

at the end, then re-chop?

even tho they have different styles i don't see why not. Kryptic Minds and Exsicion/Datsik is also a world of difference, but its just dubstep. Creating a subgenre for every new style is just being stupid.

who mentioned sub-genre?

dubstep came from influences like garage, dub etc etc but we dont class dubstep as a sub-genre of those.

i was on about just giving it a tottaly new name as its taken its influence but evolved so far from its original sound that its become its own thing.

I dont think there anything negative about that - its giving birth to a new sound!

ya know, someone at some point had to have the balls to say "nah this is no longer acid house lets call this psytrance" or "nah this is no longer a mix of soul and funk lets call this rhythm and blues" and so on.

Genre or subgenre is pratically the same thing. Its still kick on 1 and snare on 3, with some nasty bassline. IMO people are just seeking attention with all this [insert random word here]step or whatever. For all i care go ahead, but i just find it silly thats all.

i do get the whole "lets not pigeon hole" idea, and i really like the ethos and everything - but it just makes life so much easier when you can say "oh this new goa trance tune" rather than "oh this new tune with a 4/4 kick with lots of subbass and science fiction movie samples" (yeh thats the most generic description ever, im having a bit of a laugh - alright!)

wow, that's an intense bass...

wonder when this filth contest is gonna end, its getting pretty ridiculous

also, kinda seems like skrill is biting excisions logo a little, and tomba's sound a lot, riding on his past fame, too...

© 2010 WMG

still think its dubstep, but maybe call it hardcore dubstep or metal dubstep or some new name like Pantsdidllywiddlystep

^ I have to agree.

As soon as I first heard Skrillex (and every time since) I just feel like: if he's gonna try to sound like Excision, just not as good....why wouldn't I just listen to Excision?

Ya gotta wonder if Deadmau5 is trying to hurt our beloved genre by promoting this guy.... (lol paranoid I know, I'm...half joking)

EDIT: ...and before someone accuses me of hating on Skrillex cause of his success....I f*cking love Bare Noize.
